/// I don't think many people get attacked because of what they are wearing tbh. Rape and sexual assault tends to be about power and control. People in jeans get raped... ///

Yes and so do some rip cash machines off the wall to get at the cash, but surely more goods are stolen when they are put out on open display?
not true AOG, or polite.
If it was just about sex then maybe but it rarely is.
Who thinks girls might hitch up their clothes on the way home, to get a cheap taxi?
Are taxi drivers so altruistic that they'd carry passengers at a reduced fare if there were others about who'd pay the full rate?
Young women should be able to walk around in their chosen state of dress without the risk of being attacked.

If this saves attacks and womens lives then so be it.
scantily clad girls- i wanna be a taxi driver!
Wondered when you'd bring blacks and gays into it, but gingers? That's a new one in your interests. Are gingers the new Muslims , AOG? :) The serious point is that, to the extent that those groups are attacked, presenting them with cheap taxis at night wouldn't make any difference. They are attacked at all times and in many, if not all, circumstances. The women who are scantily dressed at night may well be, but they are not attacked for just being women
Non story.

Excuse for Mail to show lots of pictures of women with next to no clothes on.

I think you will find that more goods are stolen when they are on open display, than cash that is stolen by ripping cash machines off the wall.

But then my reasoning can only be an assumption, so perhaps since you have accused me of not telling the truth, you can then perhaps provide substantial evidence that proves that I am stating an untruth?

Now we will get to your other statement that I was being un-polite, so again I ask you to provide the proof of where I was being so?
your "goods on display" analogy was certainly not polite.
Yes, AOG , there is more shoplifting than there are cases of people hiring mechanical diggers or other suitable machinery , going to a cash machine, setting up the equipment they bring, bringing a suitable vehicle to carry the cash or the machine itself, committing the crime and driving off.

Why do you think that is?

And what is your point?
That poor lass in the picture that DM used for the article must be mortified. That picture is regularly used in articles about alcohol, and youth, and girls and going out :)

I find this an odd story. Firstly, I am not entirely sure just how serious this proposal is - it sounds more like one persons idea more than anything else. Should it ever come to be seriously considered, then no, I do not think that such a scheme be set in place.

I do remember reading one tragic story though, about a girl murdered on her way home from a night out - in Nottingham, I think it was - she had drunk too much, stopped by a PCSO car on her way home and begged for a lift. They sent her on her way, and during her walk home she was attacked and killed. Those PCSOs probably feel pretty awful.

Hey, wasn't that done regularly in those far off days when it was safe to hitch a ride home?

Whereas we lads had to depend on our uniform to hitch a lift, or even take more extreme measures.

Then how else would you describe articles of value, set out on open display, to those inclined to nick them?

Don't be so sensitive.

/// Are gingers the new Muslims , AOG? ///

No but they are more easily recognised :0)

/// The serious point is that, to the extent that those groups are attacked, presenting them with cheap taxis at night wouldn't make any difference. They are attacked at all times and in many, if not all, circumstances. ///

I disagree if they were to be taken door to door by taxi, then there would be less likelihood of them being attacked on the street, unless of course there have been cases where taxi passengers have been attacked in taxis taken them home?

/// The women who are scantily dressed at night may well be, but they are not attacked for just being women ///

Now there you are getting a little puzzling, lets get this right, "scantily dressed women are not being attacked for just being women"???????????

That is what you said isn't it?

If so, then can you possibly be equally saying, that the same would happen to scantily dressed men?
And yes, the who story is boll0x

// Brentwood Borough Council confirmed a shuttle bus to take late night drinkers back to their hotels would not use taxpayers' money.

The idea has been put forward by stakeholders for consideration by a new working group headed by Cllr Hossack.

But the council declared that any such service would never be paid for from the public coffers.

A spokesman for the council said: "Following some media coverage this week about nightlife in Brentwood, we want to make it clear that the council has no intention of funding a shuttle bus or taxi service to take visitors back to their hotels at night.

"Such a service is one of many options put forward by stakeholders for consideration by a new group established to look at keeping Brentwood a safe and enjoyable place for a night out.

"No decision has been made about this service, but if it were to go ahead, it would be privately funded." //

Nothing more sinister or insulting than an analogy to the statement below.

/// I don't think many people get attacked because of what they are wearing tbh. Rape and sexual assault tends to be about power and control. People in jeans get raped... ///

Meaning that there is more chance of them being attacked if they are wearing very little, to a person more discreetly dressed, but that does not mean that those women are also free from being attacked, just the least likely to, that is stating the obvious.

/// Non story. ///

Another non story again according to Gromit, I am sure if some council in some obscure village in the Outer Hebrides, were to pass a resolution that they where to pay their fishermen to take the members of the EDL out on fishing trips, it would still be a non story in your eyes.

Excuse for Mail to show lots of pictures of women with next to no clothes on.

Lots of pictures two in fact, and hardly wearing "next to nothing", but aside from that Gromit have you got a particular problem with "women with next to nothing on"?
// if some council in some obscure village in the Outer Hebrides, were to pass a resolution... //

That is why it is a non story. No resolution has been passed. No report has yet been prepared. No funding exists. No resolution has been prepared or discussed. It seems to be one Conservative Councillor (out of a council of over 50) who has made a particularly dumb and sexist comment.
