Could It Be...that Somehow...we've Got A Pope That 'gets It'???
Do you welcome Pope Frank's comments, or..or...seriously - what the hell is going on?
Conservatives introducing same sex marriage and now the Pope reigning back on all the hellfire rhetoric!
Who the hell is left for us leftie liberals to hate (apart from the Westboro Baptist Church).

That's why I am unlikely to be considered for the post of Defence Secretary, I believe that killing people is immoral, and spending millions of pounds investing in ways to do that is an appaling way to behave.
So it is highly unusual to find a Pope who not only appears not to want to push the church further back than the 1300's, but is actually willing to address some of the issues it faces regarding its future.
As advised - it is a start.

Yes, odd isn't it? But good on him for this attitude:
"Last week, Bishop Thomas Tobin of Providence, Rhode Island, wrote in his diocesan newspaper that he was "disappointed" Francis hadn't addressed abortion since his papacy began six months ago, according to AP.
Francis said it was not necessary to speak out on such issues."
and:
"The teaching of the Church, for that matter, is clear and I am a son of the Church, but it is not necessary to talk about these issues all the time.''

Apologies TTT - I have re-read my post, and realised what your response is about -
Would I defend myself against attack?
Yes, but I would not sanction billions of pounds constantly updating a nuclear capability that is already fit for purpose, and has been for generations.
if I want to wipe Russia off the face of the earth, does it matter if that happens with 'more efficient' missiles? I suggest it does not.
And if we are locked into a wasteful game of oneupmanship, it is time we followed the current example in Syria - Call-me-Dave was prevented from sending in troops, and hey presto! Negotiations are making headway, and no-one has had to die carrying them out.
