I wonder if Mrs Nutt gets the irony at all of her text to Mrs Turay?
In it she said " How dare you post something from my page! Its called freedom of speech in my country OK? I can post what the [bleep] I like. And yes, my opinions are extreme. But thats my decision. Not yours to broadcast."
In addition to being an unpleasant and extreme sentiment, this text shows several failures of comprehension.
First, we do have free speech in this country, and she exercised it. But that free speech comes with consequences. As well as a right of free speech there are obligations and responsibilities that come with it, one of which is that if you voice hate, or shout fire! in a crowded assembly, there are consequences that go along with that - such as being investigated by the police, and possibly even being charged.
Second - that same rights/responsibilities issue translates directly across to social media. And Facebook and Twitter will have rules of their own as to what constitutes acceptable comment, which people would be wise to read up on.
Third - If you publicly post something, you yourself are broadcasting it, and therefore it becomes public domain and anyone else can do exactly the same as well.
People really do not seem to get social media at all. Writing stuff on Facebook or Twitter is akin to walking down a busy high street, and, upon seeing a group of friends at the other end of the street, whipping out your trusty megaphone to shout out whatever opinions or gossip or tedious life trivia you imagine your friends might be interested in , whilst at the same time scribbling that same message on every wall you walk past, in this case like the jottings of some demented and vicious graffiti artist.
