go it's own way if it wants, but it has to be self governing and totally self supporting. No half measures.
If that is what they want, Fine! but it must be total Independence!
Should there be a fourth option -Devo-Min?

Morning all. Results update every 5 minutes, not immediately.

I thought I'd pop this issue out again because of recent, potentially political, moves regarding boats :)

I also don't think we've given the "devo-max" option before.
I agree with emmie and Ratter.
The subject of closing Portsmouth in favour of Clyde Bank was brought up on Question Time last night.

When Junior defence minister Anna Soubry, was asked what would happen if Scotland became Independent she failed to give an answer in fact she said she didn't know, I ask you how pathetic.
Do you know the answer, AOG ? What will happen if Scotland becomes independent?

"When Junior defence minister Anna Soubry, was asked what would happen if Scotland became Independent she failed to give an answer in fact she said she didn't know, I ask you how pathetic."

It was a really poor show actually. Surely they've considered the option?

Or is the probable outcome so bad that it's better for a politician to claim ignorance? Because that has to be pretty terrible!

"Do you know the answer, AOG ? What will happen if Scotland becomes independent?"

I don't think AOG is a Junior minister in the Defence Ministry - it's not his job to know it. It is hers.
I agree with AOG. I don't usually watch QuestionTime but I saw it last night. I thought she was terrible in most of her answers.

Benjamin Zephania was on good form though.
She also skirted around the suggestion from a member of the audience that it might be a bribe for the Scots to remain part of the UK.
Question Author
Vicky Price was quite good. Is she gearing up to a parliamentary run?

Benjamin was better than usual. I like him more as he mellows in to middle-age. A bit like Carol Anne Duffy.
Did you see Benjamin in Peaky Blinders, Ed ?.
If anyone is interested I have entered a question regarding last night's Question Time in Media & TV rather than side track this question on Scotland's Independence.
Isn't the real answer that nobody knows with precision what the consequences of Scotland being independent would be? Whether you are a junior minister or not, that is the point.
This 'boat' thing is a non issue from the point of view of military capability because the yards in Portsmouth are not going to disappear, merely cease building ships.
Should the need arise they could always be re-commissioned.

"Did you see Benjamin in Peaky Blinders, Ed?"

I did, he was quite good - but a bit of a token pseudo-mystic character who almost did stage winks to the audience. I would have watched it for Cillian Murphy alone though.
shouldn't there be an option to say whether you're Scottish when you vote?
i suspect that would show most of the option B votes to be English!
