Surely it is not only our children's browsing habits that the government should be concerned about?

/// Official records showed that more than 300,000 attempts were made to access pornographic website in the Houses of Parliament last year. ///

....And did he do it 300,000 times?
i work for the NHS. As part of my job in engagement, i had to research how to contact the transgendered community. I favourited several dodgy looking websites, so i could peruse them later to see if they could give me any links that would be useful to my job. I'm glad the DM didn't get hold of it

//..the then shadow housing minister dismissed it as a mistake as he and Mrs Harman had been exploring romantic breaks in Paris.
According to the Guido Fawkes political gossip website, Mr Dromey said he had accidentally stumbled on the gay porn website - which featured a character called ‘Paris’. //

We've all done it. I had a similar problem when I was trying to get train tickets for the little known Austrian village Bigboysinlederhosen.

The figures were not all "purposeful requests" and may have been exaggerated by third-party software and websites that reload themselves, they added.

About 5,000 people work on the parliamentary estate.

Attempts per month
May 2012: 2,141
June 2012: 2,261
July 2012: 6,024
August 2012: 26,952
September 2012: 15,804
October 2012: 3,391
November 2012: 114,844
December 2012: 6,918
January 2013: 18,494
February 2013: 15
March 2013: 22,470
April 2013: 55,552
May 2013: 18,346
June 2013: 397
July 2013: 15,707

The data was released following a Freedom of Information request by Huffington Post UK, which published the story with the headline Oh Yes, Minister!

However, the figures vary wildly: in November, there were 114,844 attempts to access websites classed as pornographic, but just 15 in February.
Apparently, such technological slip-ups can be relatively common, though embarassing; Some sharp-eyed observer noticed that the David Camerons official twitter account was "following" Carltons of London - Now, Carltons happens to be a high end escort agency, but what the staffer responsible for the website was probably trying to link to was The Carlton Club :)

I find those numbers very interesting, DrFilth; Just seems a huge variance to have just 13 attempts in February 2013, 397 in June 2013 and then 114,000 in November 2012!
Why only 15 in February.

Must be the cold putting them off!

Presumably the Houses of parliament have blockers so you can't get to the site anyway; just like any normal company. So who cares?

I worry more about those that deny it !!!
> 13 attempts in February <

a lot may have been off sick with a cold -)
It could cause tension with his staunchly feminist wife who has complained about 'sexist' pictures of women in the Sun, we are told by the Daily Mail (second DM link) Hmm. He was looking, privately, at a picture of a man.

Good old Daily Mail. Dragging in the words 'staunchly feminist', when it knows that 'feminist' is a rude word to some of its readership, and in a piece about two people whose politics it doesn't agree with. And they do it in a way to make it appear relevant in some way; "It could cause tension.."; though the paper doesn't explain how the picture, in these circumstances, could cause tension with a staunch feminist particularly
LG, what does a 'high end' escort provide that a 'low end' one doesn't ?

@Fred - Taller escorts and cleaner fingernails, one imagines :)
Are these failed attempts to access porn? Are the people in the Palace of Westminster not computer literate?
