I'm afraid this makes me totally ill. This man must be really sick, surely he cannot ever see the light of day ever again

And if I had my way he would be missing certain bits by now.

No, never. I'm sure his fellow inmates will make his life hell. Hopefully.
He should never be free.
I find it incomprehensible :(
If they brought back hanging, I would be first in the queue to put the rope around his neck.
I thought sex offenders, particularly of children, were segregated so they are 'protected'.
This thread will see the 'self-righteous Brothers' filling their lungs to capacity in preparation for trying to outdo each other in how angry they are, and what sophisitication of punishment they would be dishing out.

So leaving that aside - this is a terribly sad case, and yes, Watkins is obviously sick, but in the true sense of the word - these are not the actions of a sane mind.

Hopefully long-term to permanent psychiatric incarceration will be the result - because that is what is appropriate.

true but he can never be trusted on the outside again, no matter what the so called specialists say....as we have seen they can be easily fooled, and people like him seem to be pretty good at it
Why is nobody commenting on the two women charged with him?
I've only seen the headlines which are bad enough, but they deserve the same if they aided him or were directly involved
The two women were fans of his and were the mothers of the babies he abused. They have both been charged with aiding and abetting the sex offences.
I totally agree. I can't get my head around how evil those women are to have put their children through such abuse. Lock all three of them up and throw away the key.
I'm a fan of a few singers, male and female, but if any of them laid a finger one either of my children, they'd end up 6ft under.
'on either'
Don't think anyone can be totally protected in prison boingo. Fingers crossed.

Thanks for that mature and considered addition to the debate.

andy, do you mean appropriate in your opinion ?.
andy-Hughes what do you mean?

andy, do you mean appropriate in your opinion ?."

It is my opinion, but I think it will be the same as the opinion of the powers-that-be - such actions are not the behaviour of a rational mind, but I would suggest the behaviour of a psychotic disturbed group of people.

For them the notion of punishment is not appropriate in my view.

Punishment is only relavent to someone who understands that they have behaved in a manner which society as a whole deems unacceptable, and in order to fully understand that, a punishment proscribed in law is fitting.

On the evidence thus far, the people involved in this case appear to be sociopaths - they have no concept of right and wrong, and no sense of empathy with their victims, so punishment would serve no real purpose, because punishment requires an acknowldgement of wrongdoing, which trhe sociopath is incapable of experiencing for themselves.

Therefore, psychiatric incarceration would appear to be the way forward here, but I am no expert, and as you suggest, this is purely my opinion.
/Fingers crossed. /

what do you mean scorpio?

scorpiojo - "andy-Hughes what do you mean?"

This -

irony1

/ˈʌɪrəni/

noun

noun: irony

1.

the expression of one's meaning by using language that normally signifies the opposite, typically for humorous or emphatic effect.

"‘Don't go overboard with the gratitude,’ he rejoined with heavy irony"

synonyms:

sarcasm, sardonicism, dryness, causticity, sharpness, acerbity, acid, bitterness, trenchancy, mordancy, cynicism; More

Thank you for the many examples of irony, andy-hughes.

My comment was a response to boingo's about sex offenders being protected in prison. You may think that I am one of the 'self-righteous Brothers' but I think this man deserves every punishment he gets, from whatever source.
Should he be placed in a psychiatric facility (possibly without time-limit), he can learn (if he doesn't know already) how to play the system and be released to do it again. Perhaps he is well aware of right and wrong but did this because he gains some sick satisfaction from it?
