If this is not demeaning towards white women as well as being blatantly racist I do not know what is.

I didn't realise ethical judgements about whether people were being demeaned was Race-dependent
What an interesting insight into aog's mentality
Do you think aog's ethical judgements in other situations are also Race-dependent?

/But he has got a naked girl round his neck....respect, yo!/
unconventional though it is, having a naked girl hanging around your neck might be one 'way into a relatioship. It will certainly gain him a lot of male 'friends'. Err, I'm just nipping out for a smoke can I borrow your scarf ? is a near certainty.

Interesting. Is he saying that his mother was just a trophy wife as far as his father was concerned or that society made that assumption? Or just sections of society?
There are many other examples of relationships where negative assumptions are made - beautiful young woman with old, ugly multi-millionaire; beautiful young woman with ugly premier league footballer. With the footballer/WAG scenario it can be difficult to determine who is the trophy - maybe that applies to all such relationships.
In some parts of America mixed race relationships are still very much frowned on; some British individuals have the same attitude.
His art is thought provoking.

are you suggesting the women are Social Climbers?
:-)
anecdotally; I can't think of any male black acquaintances with white partners
But two of my friends (one a company MD and the other a senior manager in a multi-national) are white men with black female partners; one of whom is an ex-model so definitely a 'trophy' in her own right

Eight points.
1. Yes - you are 100% right...the images are demeaning to white women. Any image of any woman where they are portrayed as an object, are...well, objectionable.
2. Your question suggests that you've taken the picture literally. Black men don't actually drape women over their shoulders, and Nate Hill is not black, so your question is both figuratively and literally off the mark.
3. The plural of 'Trophy' is 'Trophies' not 'Trophys'.
4. Because of 3, I'm now going to have to scan every bloody response I give on AB for spelling and grammatical errors.
5. Perhaps it's better to have a woman on your shoulder than the almighty chip, that those who post questions on AB playing the race card almost daily seem to have...
6. Ignore number 5, it was both tempting and below me.
7. Who am I trying to kid. It wasn't below me at all.
8. That's all.

/// I do hope you are not abandoning your thread AOG - most unlike you to walk away from a robust debate. ///
Good Afternoon Andy, in reply may I say not in the least, I signed off yesterday because I had finished for the day, and now I have only just come on, hope that clears up any misunderstanding to those who though I had just lost the debate.
To get back to this issue, I was brought up in a society where most women were respected, and thus when I read this it just set off great anger in myself that females are now classed as a trophy commodity by certain males. In this day of women's rights, I would have thought that there would have been more female ABers showing their distaste at such things?
But having said that I noticed that the majority of those ABers who disagreed with me were males, and it would seem by the majority of female ABers who chose not to voice an opinion, were most likely torn between their politics and their femininity, so thought it more suitable just to keep quiet.

What you say is quite true, but they didn't show women draped around men's necks, that is the point of my argument and the same would be said if some artist had shown himself with a female at his feet complete with collar and chain.
Seems ironic to me that some on AB find nothing offensive with this, yet demand the end of 'page three' girls.
