This is just breaking on BBC News - can't find it online.

I'm still on Team Nigella, and feel that this trial has all been about her, rather that the actual accused.

You canabising be serious, DT.
I bet the two assistants are in ecstasy....
Who grassed them up ?.
Sigh!!
Nigella will be in for abit of stick when she uses icing sugar now.

The sisters are planning to sell their story.
What is sad about this is the close frienships lost (more than likely forever) and revealed betrayal. The children must have been close to these sisters too and vica versa. Elizabetta does seem to be the most distraught in all this but I can imagine Nigella is suffering more. If Mr S does not care about Nigella, never mind love her.
A few life lessons all in one go but this experience must affect trust.
I feel sorry for Nigella,I honestly thought she was on trial for something but apparently she was just a witness for the prosecution.
Appears to be a smear campaign to me.
Yep I feel really sorry for Nigella too. Must be crying herself to sleep in her Mayfair mansion, or Cannes apartment, or Barbados villa. Error of judgement in extremeis.
So, Zacs, you think wealthy people don't have feelings?
I wouldn't want to be in her shoes for all the tea in China.
The betrayal is so much worse when it's splashed all over the press.
Typical jealousy of folks who have made money
Of course they have feelings but I think they (or she) should have thought it through a bit more.
I don`t know why there are outpourings of sympathy for Nigella Lawson. There are a lot of people who are a lot worse off than her. It sounds like the two assistants deserved a medal for working for those two. Yes, she has had a hard time but so have a lot of other people (without the buffer of money and turning to illegal drugs). Maybe it`s because she`s beautiful. My guess is that if she had a face like the back end of a bus, there would only have been half the media coverage.
Although I was not privy to all the evidence presented in court regarding the two woman who were PAs to Nigella and her husband, I feel that it was Nigella who was put on trial.
Zacs, my old father used to say "Money can't buy you happiness. But at least you can be dead miserable in comfort "

Why should anyone not be miserable, a human condition common to all of us, because they live in luxury which, I take it, you can only dream of?
Interesting article in the Guardian today on this case, pointing out that, the way english law ( and for all I know european law and american law) does not allow for the reputational defence of witnesses. So there was no one able to challenge the assertions and allegations made over drug taking or allowing kids to take drugs, and that this indeed amounted to a character assassination.

This does seem unfair to me.

FredPuli, many women stick with bad husbands because they can't afford to leave. Nigella could, so that might have alleviated the misery at least a little.
I have no doubt that she is miserable but, she obviously didn't think about how much her 'assistants' knew about her, or, she may have felt that her status and fame would override such 'trivialities'. I'm afraid I have little sympathy.
Nigella here too. Staff proved their dishonesty by rummaging thru Nigellas handbags - bet they were drug runners.
Or maybe she just trusted them, Zacs....
Italians eh?
