Britain's most eminent cross-dresser turns up for a Palace investiture in a suitable outfit that matched his prominence as thus. Thankfully we have such people, who have the courage to follow their convictions so what he wore doubtless didn't come as any shock to Charles.

I was going to make some thoughtful comments...but I fear they would get lost in the 'chat' here...:-(
pasta.......don't interrupt the children whilst they are amusing themselves.
I apologise for going off topic.
I suppose Chatterbank did leak out into the News section. Apologies for my part in dragging it away from topical debate.
Will be if Jim and I marry, Sqad.....but mea culpa...I'll go back to my lover if he's finished with the traffic...xx
Too late for apologies........other ABers are often not offered such an excuse before their posts are removed.
The world has gone mad.
Was it ever sane?

Sqad.....in real life when we are discussing something like this we go off all over the place.

Often it's the same here or threads would be like a Janet and John book but you're upset so I'll clear off and please feel free to report my posts so they can be removed.
Too late for apologies........ that is not the way I was brought up either.

Report me too if needs be, at least I don't feel the need to post vulgar references to female genitalia as happened earlier on this topic if not this thread.
ahem anyway - it doesn't bother me if that's what he's known for however I wouldn't say 'good for him' and I expect the palace reported it entirely appropriate because they wouldn't dare say anything else.
What it seems this boils down to is that people can be free to dress however they like, so long as they don't. That's not really freedom.

It's a sad world in which people aren't really free to be themselves because that's offensive. How do you think that makes such people feel?

but Prudie, they would dare! When you are invited to a Royal event, the dress code is made quite clear. As I said earlier, I am betting that Grayson Perry checked his choice out with the Palace ahead of time.
divebuddy, he certainly dressed in female clothes when appearing in some TV programmes, and I have seen him in his Claire and Bo-Peep dresses on the members' previews at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. Don't know where else he goes so attired for events, but get the impression they are numerous; he is better known to the general public for that, I think, than for his pottery or his other art and talks on design
woof I know it is but that wouldn't include cross-dressing eg a woman couldn't go in shorts and a strappy top. I don't believe they would dare stop a man going in entirely appropriate dress for either sex, as they didn't in this case.
The dress code says something to the effect of " Ladies yadda yadda, gentlemen yadda yadda" as i said, i bet he checked first!
Charles did not appear to mind....Perry is synonymous with cross dressing , often in an outrageous manner, this was somewhat subdued by his usual standards....

i don't care what he wears and i think he is most amusing and inventive but consider that his pots are a bit lumpen.
