Well this just about takes the biscuit, why isn't there certain qualifications a person should reach before being accepted in certain positions in the police service?

which is essentially what most have been saying, apart from those who obviously don't think women should be in these roles.
But standard issue does not have to mean "one size fits all". Such standard issue firearms can be tailored/adjusted inexpensively, by means of adjustable grips etc.

Just wading into this squabble, but it looks like she won the case becuase her superiors failed to ADJUST the gun:

'her trainers failed to adjust it while carrying out a test shoot on which her job depends.'

'asked on several occasions for a smaller and suitable grip on the weapon when they could not reach the trigger, but this did not happen.'
you don't need to quote it, and read Lazyguns response, they can be adjusted
who was that to?
chewn, as to my link, the patronising that goes on sometimes get on my wick
Not only can the grip be adjusted, it appears, but, if it cannot, we have to assume that the police have a policy of recruiting people as firearms officers when those people won't be able to use the firearm. I'm prepared to believe that the police can be stupid, but prefer to think that the firearm is adjustable.

as per my link
Hence the result of her case fred.
So now we have established that the said firearm can be adjusted, perhaps we can also assume that somehow the force could acquire properly fitting safety equipment too.

Would it then be cynical of me to wonder idly if this was a concerted effort to deter the 'petite' females from proceeding in their training?
'any claims of victimisation were unanimously dismissed.'

And i believe it. A-hem.
indeed ^
There are plenty of suitable firearms on the market, they could find one to suit any person of any size without a problem.

Joe Luke, can you not just try occasionally to contribute to a conversation without doing your utmost to be offensive to someone!
Yes, ratter, but the Glock is a particular weapon which they have to become profficient with before their training can continue, so this, combined with the fact that they refused to adjust it for her was why her case succeeded.
(I'm not sure how many other ways i can put it)
Zacs-Master, I see, I missed that bit.
