According to the latest reports, investigators are theorising that the airline was hijacked, and flew for another seven hours after communications were disabled.*

Okay, if that's the case, surely someone out of all the plane's passengers could have called or texted someone at home?

(*I assume by 'communications' they mean the plane's communications lines).

Thoughts?

A Boeing 777 needs about 6000 feet to land, there is at least one runway this of 10,000 feet and another of 4,000 on the Andaman Islands.
Todays paper is speculating the plane may have been stolen, to be used in a 9/11 style attack on a building.
hijacked you mean
I still can't see why the wreckage of this plane hasn't been found.
Even if it has crashed into the sea, which seems most likely, there would still be wreckage to be seen. The world and his wife is out looking, but still nothing ...I simply don't understand it.
Latest news is ping heard by satellite was from terrafirma....

Mikey, would you understand it if the plane hadn't crashed?
I dont understand how 300 passengers on terrafirma cant make mobile contact. China manufactures most mobiles and orientals mostly have the latest gizmos.
If the planes in the middle of nowhere then there won't be a signal, if I go into Epping Forest which is a mile up the road to me I don't get a signal!
Possibly because they're not alive to do so or if by some miracle they've been flown off somewhere they've bee confiscated.
jomifi. Its either landed or crashed. A jumbo jet with hundreds of passengers on board is a very difficult thing to conceal at any airport or airstrip, so it would seem safe to assume its crashed. There now appears to be 26 countries that it may have crashed into. I still can't see why no wreckage has been found.
You can't land a aircraft the size of this one in a jungle clearing.
## A Boeing 777 costs $300million. It is worth stealing?

Where would they sell it Gromit, on Ebay? :-)
SE. Asia has hundreds of abandoned airstrips buit both by the allies and Japan, some of them long enough to accommodate heavy bombers. If this hijacking was planned it would have been possible to ready one for use.
1. I doubt we will find this plane intact and all the passengers alive.

2. The search area is vast, so the lack of sighting of wreckage is not surprising.

3. It seems like a strange hijacking to not make themsrlves known or make demands.

4. Unless they have and the Chinese and Malaysian aurhorities are not telling us.

5. As above, the authorities, if it was a 9/11 style hijacking, may have elected to force a landing somewhere remote and are not telling anyone.

6. The US seems to be teasing that the official story is inaccurate.

7. I still reckon the plane is at the bottom of the ocean.
If these 300 people were alive somewhere remote, wouldn't they be getting a little peckish?
I think the simple answer is most likely the correct one.
Khandro, the hunger of the passengers would be subsequent to a safe landing so is irrelevant.
Scanario...Land at remote airstrip, offload passengers, fly on to even more remote airstrip and hide plane. Tell airline that for £100,000,000 they will be given the plane's location.
Of course it may be that the location of the plane is known but nobody want's to alert the hijackers to that as a rescue is being planned.
jomifi...the bl**dy plane has crashed somewhere !
Could have, but planes usually crash due to a malfunction on their normal route. This one hasn't crashed on it's planned route so there are a lot more possibilities.
If these 300 people were alive somewhere remote, wouldn't they be getting a little peckish?

Perhaps they are being filmed for a reality TV programme in which they have to learn to eat bush tucker and blobfish.
jno...............I don't think that is a appropriate post, most likely these people are dead :(
