One may not agree with Nigel Farage's politics but he did not deserve to be put up as the sacrificial lamb and verbally insulted on a light treated satirical show such as 'Have I Got News For You'.

The whole show was presented as an attack on Nigel Farage, how he managed to laugh things off I do not know, I wouldn't have blamed him if he got up and walked away in disgust.

But it didn't stop there even at the end the show's host actor and ??comedian?? Stephen Mangan had to have a dig at the Tories and the Lib Dems, but strangely nothing malicious aimed at Labour, but then we have come to expect this from our left leaning BBC.

Well for once I agree with you, AOG, and nothing to do with party politics. It was quite pathetic of this show to single out one person and, frankly, they verged on being on dangerous legal grounds as to libel/slander. The woman, whoever she was, the one partnering Ian H, got no ribbing at all. He handled it okay though.....

Blunkett thinks it should be reclassified as a current affairs programme

as i said, he wasn't and wouldn't be, very rarely do guests get an easy ride.
Surely the programme about Roma gypsies coming to the UK for benefits did more for UKIP than Nigel Farage ever could.
how many watched it, it was a sad programme, and an even sadder example of the folly of the EU,
people will vote for UKIP because many are fed up with the Lab/lib/cons
// sorry what election, if you mean a general election its over a year away //

No. The European Parliament elections take place in 6 weeks time. It is widely believed that UKIP will win the most sests in that election and will make themselves far more credible going into the election in May 2015. The main parties started their European Elections campaigns this week, so UKIP getting half an hour Prime Time on a high rated show is an unfair advantage.

How is it? I'm sure that Messrs Cameron, Clegg and Milliband have had ample opportunity to appear on the show but have invariably declined. Their loss.
i'm not sure that the bbc observe purdah. After all they screen party political broadcasts during the rum up to a general election
Gromit, free publicity, how does that work, he was on a satirical show, one where the two protagonists did their level best to make him look foolish
he didn't do a party political broadcast, didn't expound views on the EU
and if he had they would have shut him off pretty damned quick
The BBC show Party Election Broadcasts because they are obliged to do so, as are the other channels. However, they have to be careful, and are, about giving equal airtime to any party, particularly during election time.
so if Miliband, Cameron, or Boris goes on the show would that be electioneering, or just a reason for the panel to take the ***
take the p iss - sorry you are trying to say that Farage has got free PR, which is nonsense.
well i've never seen a PPB for the Citizens for Undead Rights and Equality party on BBC

as i said, how many people are really interested in the Euro elections. You seem to think that Farage is going to do well, yet most seem to agree that come the election in 2015 his party won't.
did you watch the programme by the way
HIGNFY is great publicity for any politician. Nobody would have heard of Boris if it weren't for that show.
i disagree emmie - i have always thought that NF was a tit, but comported himself well last night, and it made me think a bit about his party
Certainly didn't do that for me, black_cat, as there are a lot of tits in there and like Salmond and the Scottish Nazi Party, a lot of policies are being formulated on the hoof.
i thought he did too, its just this idea that it was some party election platform, it wasn't. Because the electorate come the general election will not be putting his party in the hot seat, because they won't get enough support,
Boris has been around a long time, long before his appearances on the programme
