the first count of indecent assault, which the jury failed to find a verdict on, will not be pursued for a retrial.

The count will lie on file.

This count related to an assault on a 14-year-old girl in Clifford's car in 1966.

Just come in and seen the news. I didn't expect as much as 8 years...not that I am inferring that he doesn't deserve it. Must be an even bigger shock to him. Spin your way out of that Max !

The prosecution has applied for costs of £66,704.

The judge notes had the offences against two women happened more recently, after changes to the law, the charges would have been rape.

Clifford could have been facing up to 10 years in jail.

Instead the sentencing guidelines for indecent assault in the 1970s and 1980s stipulate a maximum of two years.
I suppose it's been tried pretty exhaustively and, given the other findings of guilty, there's nothing to be gained by going through it again.
so he's probably going to get about the same sentence for a long series of sex attacks as a barrister got for lying to the police (16 months).

Lucky man.

The court has been adjourned until 2pm for sentencing.

Clifford has been remanded in custody until then.

As he was led down to the cells, he waved to staff from Max Clifford Associates as he left the dock.
I would´ve thought his reputation is in tatters now
i watched him on tv arriving at court, and taking his time posing for the cameras. a bit arrogant ?

Yes Anne, arriving at court this morning, Bad Max Clifford remained defiant, saying: "I stand by everything I have said in the last 17 months."

Judge Anthony Leonard tells Clifford his victims did not come forward because of his "dominant" character and his position in the world of entertainment.

He notes that Clifford told one girl "no one will believe you".

He said: "I judge you were largely responsible for the delay in victims coming forward and ought not to benefit from it."
the judge sounds .none too happy, or indeed in a hurry .
lucky man jno ?

He won't be able to enter the USA .
On second thoughts - lucky man

The judge refers to Clifford's bizarre behaviour outside court when he interrupted a Sky News reporter's piece to camera by standing behind him and mimicking his actions.

He said: "I find your behaviour quite extraordinary and a further indication that you show no remorse."

Too cocky for his own good!
consecutive sentences,
8 years in the nick
Eight years
no. will serve 4 years.
8 Years - serving at least half
I really didn't think he'd get that much, maybe 2 years at most.
I think the judge would have given him more if he could.
I wonder if Spain will want to charge him with the Spanish offence?
