the record came not from the BBC library but from the DJ's own collection. which kinda puts responsibility for content back on him. not suggesting the BBC were right, just that Mr Lowe ought to be a bit more aware of what he's putting into his (self-compiled) show.

Mushroom, good point. But I still think you can't be expected to know every word of every song, even in your own collection.The recording was a lot older than he is. An unfortunate accident for which he apologised and that should have been the end of the matter.

I see the mayor of London has not hesitated to have his say about Radio Devon - apparently it's like Boko Haram, so I suppose the poor DJ has now been sold into slavery.

Just type in Google "songs banned by the BBC" it makes for interesting reading.

Louis Armstrong's "Mack the Knife" was banned in in 1959 because it might incite gang violence.

Perhaps it should still be banned today?
