There's no doubt he killed her, he's said so - it's the method and motive which is being investigated. His mental health at the time was called into question in one report over last weekend. I don't think it was deliberate, personally - he has a fiery temperament, he has a record of firing guns inappropriately, he is a very insecure bloke, he thought he had burglars and the red mist descended. He meant to kill the intruder.
