Not everyone who has a job in the public eye has 'courted the press' to get it. It's a job she does and does extremely well. She is allowed a private life as well as anyone else who works for a living.

Whilst a level of media involvement is of course necessary for her job, she shouldn't have to sacrifice her private and family life.

Whilst it may have been an unfortunate turn of phrase to use, I don't see how an actress 'resigning' would change the way language is used or help rape victims.

Press intrusion comes with the territory when you are such a high profile celebrity, I'm sure she has more than enough money to employ security measures to minimise the effects of it.

While Theron's statement is rather stupid, this is in turn is a rather stupid thread. She is not even in a position to "resign" from, and she has no bearing whatsoever on British politics.

If this really is the basis that UKIP supporters have for pretending to be victimised by the press or accusing people of "double standards" then... well, that would explain a lot, actually.
