Methyl, the ITV had evidence against Savile, not the government.

More to the point the BBC or its employees can't do as it likes. The law, which is seperate from the government, wants to make sure no one is mistreated or abused. I'm sorry if you think this to be a bad thing.

Lots of abusers are still very much alive and kicking and almost certainly still abusing. Google Elm Guest House for instance. Cyril Smith was never prosecuted because he knew where the bodies were buried. He didn't abuse boys in Rochdale on his own. Local journalists will tell you about the "dirty mac brigade" that used to turn up by train on a Saturday evening.

If we continue to unearth these paedophiles, then it will make it less likely that there will be further instances of this in the future. Young children are still being abused...we need to listen to the victims !

An interesting thing happened in yesterday's Home Affairs Select Committee, when Simon Danczuk was giving evidence. One of the MP's present seemed to suggest that these investigations cost too much money and should be curtailed in the future. To quote Danczuk ::

Politics was "the last refuge of child sex abuse deniers" where claims were swept under the carpet and pressure applied on people not to name names.

Lets continue to fill our courts with the great and good, and let the victims be heard. Sunlight makes a very good disinfectant !

inksplotter....EVERYBODY knew about Savile, including the Police. He carried on abusing for decades because he was allowed to, by people that should have known better. He was protected to a large degree by "The Establishment"

mikey, I didn't know about Savile. I didn't know about Harris. I didn't know about Cyril Smith. I accept no responsibility whatever for their behaviour. It's no good saying "everybody knew..." 99% of people knew nothing.

I think we're mostly interested in WHY you think he cant possibly have done it though Jordy? WHY don't you think he can have done it? Just because he's cheery and likeable doesn't mean he's all nice- I thought everyone knew that about everyone. We all have horrible sides to us, just some more horrible than others.
