Barmaid.....I think most people have an idea how it works.

The greater the physical and mental damage.......the bigger the "payoff."

Physical damage is easier to quantify than emotional (mental) damage.

We bot know that in ALL medicolegal cases, exaggeration is the order of the day (or is my cynicism getting the better of me?)

A. I can't see any country where it's set at 7 years of age.
B. Consent was *not* given in Rolf's case.
C. what has that nugget of information got to to with the matter?

And in any of those jurisdictions a SEVEN year old cant consent.

There are men from all walks of life who are abusers..not just the rich and famous...that don't get the high profile treatment even if they are caught...I think they are all abhorrent but wonder if their fame was contributory to their demise ?

I suspect that his fame was a sword and a shield but ultimately led to his conviction.

A sword I say because he had access to thousands of children and young women as a result of his work.

A shield I say because no one would ever believe that lovely RH, a good all round bloke, was a predatory paedophile. Victims of abuse have a hard enough time being believed as it is, but when the perpetrator is a family entertainer famous the world over……

Ultimately it I think it did lead to his downfall. That and the bravery of the first victim to come forward. With the publicity surrounding his arrest I have no doubt it prompted more to come forwards. Indeed, evidence was given during his trial of similar assaults which were never the subject of charges. His conviction, I understand, has prompted several further complaints. If Joe Bloggs is arrested on such charges, there is very often no publicity save beyond local gossip so victims from another location/town may be utterly unaware and may not have the courage to make a complaint.
