Lots of abusers are still very much alive and kicking and almost certainly still abusing. Google Elm Guest House for instance. Cyril Smith was never prosecuted because he knew where the bodies were buried. He didn't abuse boys in Rochdale on his own. Local journalists will tell you about the "dirty mac brigade" that used to turn up by train on a Saturday...

Ok, so he used to be seen as a Nice Guy,
but not anymore,
now he's a paedophile!
Someone said in relation to paedophilia- 'Monsters don't get close to children to abuse them- nice men do', which is pretty obvious when you think about it. Someone's personal charm, glamour or charisma isn't relevant to their sexual depravities, but they do enable them to obtain victims more easily.
And he wasn't just groping groupies. One makeup artist claims he touched her inappropriately at least 2 dozen times throughout the course of the day. Imagine spending your working day fighting off a sex pest...

Yeah yeah, Jordy, they're all putting in their compensation claims before he's even sentenced.....
So what? The mechanisms we have put in place to compensate victims of crime have nothing to do with the proof or innocence of the accused. Besides do you think it unfair that someone is compensated for the horror they have suffered?

perhaps they didn't complain at the time because they were seven years old, jordy?
And one groomed.
If you make a claim for compensation of this nature, you have to give a statement which is forensically analysed by a specialist, sometimes you have to give a handwritten account so they can analyse your handwriting too, and then finally you are subjected to interviews by forensic psychiatrists all of whom are used to whittle out liars and fantasists. This is a lengthy and distressing process, no-one would put themselves through this willingly unless they were genuinely deeply affected, and it doesn't help when people suggest that as victims, think about that word, VICTIM, they don't deserve something to make their sometimes shattered lives easier.

You just don't want him to be guilty.
You are actually dafter than I thought, jordy.

Thankfully you haven't had any liquid refreshment yet ( your usually excuse for talking nonsense)
If you do have a tipple later on today, I think it would be wise not to return to this thread.
Whilst you are obviously entitled to your own opinion Jordy, you have had to get over a hue amounts of hard facts to reach it- I think that's what people are struggling with- you've ignored victims, police officers, psychiatrists, social workers, jury members and the judge, all of whom have the full facts whereas you don't , but you re still adamant that the man is innocent.
'Society' has punished Rolf by trying him for crimes we find abhorent and finding him guilty. It was a jury who found him guilty on the evidence presented before it and it sent out a message clearly stating that his actions have no place in a civilised society.

Why shouldn't those he directly harmed be entitled to receive monetary compensation from him?

in fairness to jordy, where most of us disagree with him, he is entitled to an opinion, and I fail to see that personal comments towards him will achieve anything.
