Apparently he is worth £11m. Most of that came from the BBC. But they have been silent on the issue. Yet with Savile they couldn't apologise fast enough. Do they still see him as an asset or something?

http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/world/bbc-wont-hold-its-own-inquiry-into-rolf-harris/story-e6frg6so-1226976096204?nk=19a89520c6f838c0d69e4a93ce8cc419 I can't see the point in apologising, but I think the BBC should conduct an inquiry. There is also the matter of the missing painting of the Queen, what has happened to that? It is...

Then they're not "annoying", they're informative.

/// Are these answer annoying because they don't agree with you? ///

Who is getting annoyed over the answers, it is only you that is annoying.

/// AOG the Queens portrait never belonged to the Royal Family it belonged to the BBC so it is probably in the archives somewhere - is that really important though? ///

Do you get some kind a weird kind of kick out of being confrontational or can't you just help it? Because where have I said that the painting belonged to the Queen, we were discussing the BBC that is why I asked where it was since the BBC won't say.
Ah I see you have only been a member since 13 June 2014, and have only asked 2 questions both about your MOT, but answered 192, so it's understandable that you have a lot to learn.

But let me give you a tip, when you answer a question, don't accuse other ABers of saying something that you have made up in your own mind.

Can't see why the BBC should apologise for employing Harris, he was a popular entertainer. No more than I should give myself a frontal lobotomy for watching him and enjoying his shows.

Why would you have to apologise?.This thread is about the BBC. We can all condemn people with hindsight.
I ,for one will not be 'taking the walk of shame.'(As you put it )

Terrible songs? What about that portrait of the queen - as one reviewer described it, the only portrait where the teeth follow you round the room

Now we know why the kangaroo needed tying down.

Andres, you have no case to answer for, as I'm sure you know.

Weren't there hundreds of contemporary entertainers better suited in working with children than Rolf Harris? You would have thought so.
Inksplotter, are you actually saying that the BBC knew they were employing a wrong 'un and did so regardless?

I don't think I am getting your train of thought here.
With hindsight we all have 20/20 vision.

Your argument is really quite flawed Inksplotter.

I believe there was a cover up, yes. Harris was just too powerful. His "octopus arms" seem to be well known in Australia.
Powerful? Seriously???
Ah, well in that case you have the upper hand here - I am not in the secret circles of the BBC and surely those who are should make it known then, if you are one of them or know them, I would tell them of their duty.

// Weren't there hundreds of contemporary entertainers better suited in working with children than Rolf Harris? //

Apparently not. His career was successful on merit not because he was promoted for being a perv. His activities were not well known in Australia before the Yew Tree inquiries.
Question Author
Unbelievable, Grom. You put the word merit and perv in the same sentence. There were hundreds of performers who weren't pervs in the 60s and 70s.
