I am also confused. Did Rolf Harris actually RAPE anyone ? Or is he guilty of touching people ? Or is touching classed as Rape ? I ask these questions because like a lot of people when I am earnestly talking to someone I touch their arm or back & I assure you all I have no intention of making sexual contact with them. A lot of people are touchers when in conversation so I would like to know what exactly he is guilty of. I'm sorry to be pedantic about this but as some ABers have already said why did this one particular friend of Bindy wait so long before complaining ?

It's fine to touch people casually in conversation Ron, he apparently touched people sexually which is clearly not okay.

Ron, if you read the Judge's sentencing remarks linked by Barmaid, he was certainly not tapping them on the arm, far more intimate and intrusive.

Re the young woman who waited so long - abuse is a power game, the abuser has the upper hand from day one.

After the first or maybe second occasion, they tell you no one will believe you , after the sixth or seventh they reinforce this by telling you that you have allowed it to continue.


In this young ladies case it seems she became unable to form other relationships and became dependant on drink ( whether this was in any way facilitated by RH I have no idea) but her life spiralled out of control.

I understand the confusion (I think ) that some of us cant quite understand the woman who continued to have contact with RH when she was an adult. but I don't know where/how she did have contact or in what circumstance, but it is know that sexual predators can have a ' power ' over their victims, hopefully the circumstances will be made clearer soon.... I do find the reference to songs sung by RH and the lyrics quite distasteful :(

He must have had a stranglehold over her seeing that he was travelling all over the world at that time. She had enough wit to try to blackmail him for money.Hardly an innocent victim.

Psychological hold over victims is pretty common, usually by overt or veiled threats of immense retribution. If she did 'play,' andres, I would hope that this would be picked up in any financial award process and she is duly 'discounted' from the full amount decided upon.

I'm amazed that some people are so incredulous to him being found guilty. He was caught, involving more than one person, and he is in jail.

He wasn't charged with any offences against her whilst she was an adult as far as I can tell from reading the reports , so all the blether is unnecessary.

Having looked back, I may well be wrong in my statement, for that I apologise ....I still don't think some quite appreciate the tremendous power abusers have over their victims, it's terrifying.

When I see a poster state something I find abhorrent (like his opinion that a child who has been sexually abused is not a victim if they fail to tell the authorities about it untill they are an adult) I will tell that poster that they are out of order. Report away.
