A tragedy when depression wins over a person to make them feel life is not worth living. For me Good Morning Vietnam, Goodwill Hunting, Jakob the Liar, Awakenings and most of all Dead Poets Society will always be fantastic work. I'm really so, so sorry about this RIP :(
mikey, it is more likely (but I am speculating, as no statements have been made) that drugs and suicide are both responses to depression but neither is a factor in the other.
It has been said on the news today that Williams had been battling drug and alcohol addiction for many years. I remember him being very candid on a TV talk show years ago, maybe Parkinson. It would a huge leap in faith to suggest that his addictions didn't play a part in his final demise, although, as with all suicides, we will never know for sure I suppose.
Humour was banned on the planet Ork, so chief protagonist Mork was despatched to Earth in an egg-shaped craft. Having donned his 'human suit', he quickly learned the ways of the Earthlings and, to our eternal gratitude, he morphed into Robin Williams and made us laugh for many years. R.I.P. to a great actor and comedian.
Hook and Aladdin were seminal parts of my childhood.
Funnily enough, I watched Hook last friday with a group of friends, for the first time since I was 12. Strange to think that while a group of us were enjoying his work he had such awful things going through his head.
Always sad when someone concludes any good things about life is not worth tolerating the bad frustrating annoying things for. Regardless as to whether they are celebs or not.
Very sad to hear of Robin Williams - (what a massive coincidence) - just last night on Family Guy - everything Peter touched turned into Robin Williams.
Wolf63 - if you feel like you do - rather than waiting until desperation - you should seek help - maybe in counselling - "it's good to talk". Best wishes. JjCon
