I am on record here as feeling somewhat sorry for Farage....you know...herding cats and all that. But just when it looked as if it had all gone quiet on the UKIP front, along comes another of his daft Members, this time a woman, and spoils it all again. Still, its an opportunity for Farage to get into the media again, so maybe its not so bad after all. Just to remind everybody what this daft UKIP MEP actually said :::

Name calling is the usual storm in a teacup. No one died or was injured. Their candidates/party members ought to be more savvy, but I don't see why Nigel bothers to comment any more. Although he should reconsider the boundaries his party allows freedom of speech.
Ever put your foot in it?
but they are saying what all true Britons think!
Don't think I'm less of a true Briton if I find the Ting Tong remark inadvisable.

JNO...nonsense and drivel !

All people in Britain are not racist loonies, but UKIP seems to attract them like flies around a dustbin lid. This woman has been particularly stupid, as she has insulted a long-time UKIP supporter and his wife. What possible concern is it of yours, or anybody else if this chap has married a foreigner...didn't Farage himself do the same ? Of course his wife is white...I wonder if that makes a difference ?

This shows UKIP in its true colours I'm afraid.
It was a stupid thing for the MEP to say. She should have known you can't say things like that now. I'm not sure why she was talking about the Thai lady, anyway.
She apologised, so why did Farage have to stick his nose in?

Jno, who are the "true Britons" and what do they all think?
Question Author
Scoops...it just wasn't inadvisable...it was downright stupid and has got her Party in the deep do-do yet again...another own goal, from a Party which specialises in own goals.
I don't see why anyone should feel sorry for Nigel Farage. After all he claims an excellent salary as a Euro M.P. and employs his Wife on his expenses and all for what,to behave rather childishly when he is there.I think its those who voted for this sham party we should feel sorry for.
sorry, mikey, I was just trying to predict the responses you were going to get from Ukippers here. Cloverjo, I think the true Britons Ukip are after are the ones down the pub grumbling into their beer about the government, ting tongs, human rights, the EU...
Question Author
I agree grumps, but I still feel a little bit sorry for him. Its plain to see that a political Party like UKIP is next to impossible to control, built up as it is from a rag-tag army of disaffecteds from the loony-fringes. As I have said before, herding cats would be easy compared to leading UKIP !
mikey and his obsession....again Zzzzzzzzz

mikey whos life revolves around an internet question site and farage who leads a political party and is an mep.....whos the daft one ?
Well the votes for UKIP speak for themselves.

No, UKIP voters are not racist, but then they do not look for every opportunity to find offence on behalf of someone else like you do.

You really ought to get out a bit more. The vast majority of the public do not think like you.
Question Author
If by your last sentence you are implying that the "vast majority of the public" think like UKIP, then that is simply counterintuitive. If it was true, UKIP would feature more prominently in the Polls, which they don't.

I would expect UKIP supporters to counter my point but to suggest that the majority of UK citizens have racist tendencies, as well as being hypocritical is just daft. This woman has put her UKIP foot in her UKIP mouth, and embarrassed Farage yet again.
Question Author
JNO...I realise that you were being ironic !

But we seem to be somewhat depleted in UKIP supporters here on AB, despite so many of them admitting that they voted for them in the May Euro elections. This woman's actions would be difficult to excuse of course, and there is no doubt that it has caused Farage another sleepless night, but they could at least try, without shooting the messenger of course !
I seem to have missed something in the link. Has Farage to apologise yet again? The woman,in question, has apologised for using an inappropriate name.
Farage did'nt say it. Surely he has to put his members right in knowing what or what not to say. I am still waiting for a certain recent Prime Minister to apologise for a far more serious crime than using an offensive name but he won't because he has a team of good damage limitation liars to back him and prevent a well deserved trip to the Hague.
Question Author
Retrocop...Farage saw the need to visit this family and offer his apologies, as at that time, the daft woman hadn't. Of course, he has used the occasion partly as a damage-limitation exercise and partly to get his face on the telly again. But I am giving credit where its due. Its hardly ever Farage that puts his foot in his mouth.... rather its always his Members. UKIP seems to have very little control of its Members and seems unable to choose them sensibly in the first place. This is hardly the first time this has happened is it ?

I would suggest that if UKIP wants to be taken seriously, rather than this long-running comedy act, its had better get its house in order.
Aside from his views as a politician and debater he could be a world beater - in a different party....

I'm not sure these types of gaffes are any more exlusive to Ukip, more the nature of them exposes the party to more attention and ridicule.
Mikey
Then I did miss something on the link then. I did'nt read that.
Question Author
No problems retro...there is a lot to miss here !
Admittedly the links don't have a lot of reading matter to grasp but I only read BBC UK England at first. I did'nt see BBC England-Kent
