Retrochic - no I don't have children but that's not by choice. :( I did say if you read my post "my love would win over" - I can't imagine myself not loving a child, no matter what they had done, they would still be your child who you love dearly, you would have to accept anything I think.

I agree with most of Sqad's post at 12.30pm. I'm just glad I don't have children as it must be awful for a mother to have to decide between love for her son and her own convictions/opinions.


You surely have to harbour homophobic ideas for that to be a dilema?

I'd like to stand alongside Ann here, I went "ouch" when I saw that response about having no children. Some of us have had no choice in the matter, and for some of us, it's been sad. Please don't judge that we can't emit unconditional love because we have no progeny.

I may be odd....but I think of my gay family members and friends as couples having a life together....I don't spend time imagining them having sex any more than I imagine the heterosexuals having sex.....

Who am I use their sex lives to judge any of them...or to shudder?

To think like that or to wish to deny other folk their happiness because of who they love is ....I don't know what it is really..... :-(

I'm fine thanks - don't worry I'm used to people thinking I don't have children through choice. Because of my religious views on this post I wouldn't fall out with others because they see life differently to me, the same as I expect the same attitude back ;)

Although I'm firmly in the Sqad camp on this subject, I think most men that fantasize about Lesbians engaging in, ahem, sexual activity, see it as depicted in advertisements and movies, i.e., two young, preferably blond women voluptuously constructed, when the opposite is generally true in "real life".

In fact,here in the U.S., our supposedly sane government is spending over $1.5 Million dollars to find out why the large majority (no pun intended) of Lesbians are obese and most homosexual (can't bring myself to use the word gay in their context… I know, I know…) men are not. I think a know the answer to that. At least, I have a theory - bear with me.

Men, gay or straight, are more inclined to visual stimulation...hence the number of porn magazines aimed and men, and the relatively few aimed at women (although it could be argued that this may be nurture rather than nature).

Until fairly recently, straight men didn't look after themselves, and it's not that attitudes to male grooming could be summed up with "Don't be poncey" (in the 70s you has the choice of any aftershave as long as it was Brut, Hi Karate or Old Spice).

The reason (I believe) that gay men invest so much time and energy over their physical appearance is because men (generalisation time) are visually stimulated, whereas women (generalisation part two) are more emotionally stimulated.

If you take the men out of the equation, and you have two women in a relationship, there isn't the same impetus to be perpetually 'glammed up'.

Just a theory mind...
