I have two colleagues why are openly gay, they are like chalk and cheese. One of them has been through the wringer with it, he was forced "out" through no choice of his own, what happened to him was evil. He is what I'd call genetically gay, it's not the nicest term but with what we have in here you have to deal with it. The other is a lifestyle gay, known him years he's had every type of relationship under the sun, straight/gay/bisexual/multipartnered but eventually decided that gay was best for him "because women are too *** awkward to deal with". Now this may be nonsense but I can only go on the evidence I see in front of me, at times we make our choices, all of us.

The 'choice' question can be summed up with these two questions:
"When did you decide to be gay?"
Just about every gay person would respond with 'Eh? What are you talking about?"
As opposed to this:
"When did you realise you were gay?"
Some gay people will say, "I've always been attracted to boys/girls (delete where applicable".
Some gay people will say, "Oh, not until my early teens", which again, is perfectly understandable.
And there will be some who refuse to accept their sexuality until later in life. They may even have married and have had children. When this last group come out, it looks to the world that they have 'made a choice', but that's not strictly true...the choice has been made for them.
An analogy for this last group is a man who has had blonde hair for the whole of his life who spends every day dying it black because blondes have always been socially unacceptable.
He finally realises that he is unhappy with constantly combing L'Oreal dyes through his hair and reveals to his family that he's actually blonde.
He didn't make a choice to be blonde. The only choice he had was to stop *hiding* the fact that he is blonde.

Agreed Ozzy, everyone gets on great with the "genetic" type because he's an honest open hard working type of guy; jeez i don't believe I'm typing this it's just offensive to my friend. The other, he has his wee clique buit doesn't mix with what he calls the normal fuddy duddies.... May not be a "Choice" as others label it but it certainly presents itself that way!
