More Asylum Seekers Housed In Hotels

When is the government to tell these asylum seekers (economic refugees) that they are no longer welcome in this country.
If escaping from prosecution is their excuse then there are plenty of other countries on their way to the UK that they could find safety in, after all isn't finding refuge in the first safe country to theirs, the international rule?
In the meantime for all those that we have in this country already waiting for a decision, we could either use ex military camps or build some on remote Scottish Islands, perhaps then , when they find us no longer so accommodating they will choose another country to head for.

If their boat is serviceable it should be taken under tow and returned to the North African coast (too bad if it ends up a few miles from where it left). If it is not serviceable the people should be held securely until another vessel can return them to the same place. Why do you think it is that when then come from the far side of Europe, or further, they don't seek sanctuary in the first safe Country they reach but continue across Europe to the UK, it's because we're seen as a soft touch. how many more of these people do you think we can afford or accommodate?
For some time now I've been renting a small house in South Belfast to a family from eastern Europe. They work and their children are doing very well at school. While they're not refugees in the classic sense, more economic migrants making a better life for themselves and their children, I'm happy to play my part in helping them.
Ah, sandy, so you are profiting from economic migrants. I have no problem with people like your tenants who come here to work. I have a problem with the ones who cross lots of other safe havens because they know they will beautiful up in hotels and given everything they want in this country. Something for nothing.
During WW2 the government introduced 'Billeting Officers' who's job it was to knock on doors asking the occupants if they had spare rooms in which to take in evacuees, recuperating wounded forces, nurses etc, etc.
I wonder how many of today's tolerant, understanding and sympathetic persons, would wish to see a return of these officers knocking on their doors asking how many immigrants they could accommodate?

I believe that the mob in Bolton and those mentioned that have been put up in Bournemouth are part of the 500 or so that were discovered in Crystal Palace a couple of weeks ago. It is clear that Serco (the company tasked with finding such accommodation) is shunting them around the country in smaller batches hoping they will somehow not be noticed.
What they are doing is appalling. The hospitality trade in Bournemouth is already suffering as a result (I know of a couple who run a business in that town and they have told me that hotels are enduring an unusually high number of cancellations). Premier Inn is likely to be hit next. People booking a night or two away will not risk the chance that they will have the company of a couple of dozen asylum seekers over breakfast.
Whether it is justified or not people simply do not welcome the idea that a hotel where they might be staying will be accommodating such groups. It’s a plain fact and no amount of arguing the rights and wrongs of their attitude will alter that. It is outrageous that taxpayers’ dosh is being used for such purposes. As I said in response to an earlier question (about Romanians camping in Edmonton woods) the UK is full. Somebody in government needs to understand and accept that fact, convey it to the wider world and do something to stop the influx. Pitiful wringing of hands declaring “nothing can be done” is simply no longer good enough.
And no, Sandy, my heart most certainly is not into the idea of giving sanctuary to refugees because (a) most of these people are not genuine refugees and (b) even if they are they will have to find somewhere else because we’re full up.

Why don't you ask the bank then, Sandy. I'm sure the they would be more than pleased to do their bit for the poor and dispossessed. (I'm not so sure that their investors and shareholders would be, though).

Even if you owned the house outright you would receive no return on your investment and would still have to meet the cost of repairs and maintenance (presumably from your own pocket). Our own single homeless males are not put up anywhere (unless they are fortunate enough to get a few nights accommodation in a hostel of some sort). They are left to their own devices and usually end up in shop doorways.

Our politicians are not bothered about their own countrymen, only when it comes to extracting money from them so as to spend on those from abroad or even the countries that they come from.
