This looks complicated but it seems that ASDA are paying women less than men for essentially the same work. Walmart in America has had this reputation of discriminating against women for years and it appears to be doing the same over here. Walmart is the worlds biggest retailer and has the money to fight this all the way.
What a pity that here in the 21st century, women still have to fight for the most basic of employment rights.
My sister-in-law worked in ASDA a few years ago, at night, filling the shop freezers with frozen food. It was hard work but she didn't complain. But the men on the same shift, that never ventured out of the warehouse, onto the shop floor, were paid more than her !
I am sure that Tesco does the same TTT ! Maybe it doesn't...I don't know.
By the way, there was an article on the BBC News site, about Tescos "creative accounting" culture being suspected at least 4 years ago, but I can't find it now.
That clip is about US earnings, jno, and I can't see anything which says that women pay more tax, either in the US or in the UK. She refers to the lower rates of pay as a 'vagina tax' but that's all I remember hearing about tax
