It took 6 years of war and the loss of countless of lives to stop Germany ruling us, should we now be frightened of what they now threaten us with?

Wow.
Surely that would be a promise not a threat ?

Sorry I have just spotted two other threads on the same subject.
Best answer to aog ^^^
The EU is made up of 28 member states.

It is therefore not just up to Germany, but all of the members to decide if The UK can change the rules and still ge a member.

But it is unlikely that the other 27 countries will accept a unilateral change which excempts the UK from rules the rest have to obey.

Not sure what World WR 2 has to do with anything. Not sure Germany is making any kind of threat.

They are stating that if the UK decide to leave, they are prepared to carry on without us. They couldn't really state anything else.

Frighten of what they are threatening us with? We should not be frightened because they are not threatening us with anything.
I think it's time to tell them to go away, and let us run our own country.Considering the amount of money we put in to support an organisation in which half the members seem to be always on the verge of going broke I think in the long run they'll miss us more then we will them.It will also be intereating to see how the French and Germans react when they get asked for the cash that they are not going to get from us,
I'm with you paddy.

As for that Angie Meerkat woman... oh do shut up love. The sooner we get out of the vile EU, the better.
Absolutely ridiculous to bring the war into this, get over it and move on!!

So you don't believe that once again they now rule Europe with just a little help from France.

Seems to me a rather good WW2 comparison.
It'll be like Scotland and the UK.

If it actually looks like there'll be a referendum and a vote to leave, the EU will go into full on grovelling and bribery mode. Until such time, there'll be this kind of bluff calling approach from all concerned.

I can't see how Cameron can come out of this without looking a bit foolish now because he's hinged his whole EU approach on a renegotiation of membership terms.

No aog, stupid nonsense!! they aren't exactly invading anybody are they!!
Adolf Merkel is just sabre rattling....she knows if we left as easily as that the rest of the EU sheep would never forgive her for letting our financial services/banking sector etc slip from their grasp.....you think the others want to pay in more ?

no matter what they say , they are desperate to keep us in its the final piece of their empire building jig-saw puzzle, we are the jewel in their greedy grasping dictatorial crown
"No aog, stupid nonsense!! they aren't exactly invading anybody are they!! "

but they are happy to let others invade us, as have our own various governments, specifically labour, over the past 50 or so years !

They don't have to go to all that old fashioned action, they just rule over us.
//"No aog, stupid nonsense!! they aren't exactly invading anybody are they!! " //

Not with troops, but they are achieving by stealth what they failed to do with two world wars.

I'm afraid AOG's comparison holds very fast.
I was always a great supporter of the EU - now I am beginning to have doubts
They NEED us, they WANT us (desperastely) ! whereas we ....
Cameron's strategy is that we should stay in the EU but that he will negociate a better deal for the UK.

Trouble is, no one believes he can do that. And Merkel seems to be enforcing that idea.

So going into a General Election, the Conservatives policy on Europe is in tatters. If that drives the EuroSceptics to vote for UKIP, that coyld let Labour in.

So perhaps putting the knife into Cameron is Merkel being clever.
I think Germany has won this war without firing a bullet, the sooner we leave the better, then sit back and watch the whole ediface collapse. Yeh hey.
