Interesting - hats off to divebuddy, in all my years debating blood sports regularly on here, I have never met anyone who openly admits to shooting for pleasure.
Although my view is diametrically opposed, I can respect his honesty, and we can agree to differ.
Debate here us largely redundant, we have two opposing views that are never going to meet.

gness - "Morning, Andy......don't give up.....we may wear him down yet..... ;-)"
I doubt it!
One fact I have learned about the difference between country dwellers and town dwellers is their fundamentally different attitude to animals.
For city dwellers, animals are either pets, or food sources they prefer not to think about.
For country dwellers, animals are either livestock for slaughter, working animals, or pests - they have none of the inbuilt sentimentality that city people have.
Given that each approach is inclucated at birth, and ech is brought up with his own perception as being the normal one, there is really no commong ground on which to meet.
City people will regard country people as barbarians, country people will regard city people as soft townies who don't understand the countryside.
Not much of a meeting point between them methinks.

divebuddy - "A-H, You have some very strange views about country people. Do you really think we don't have pets. Come on. Hell, I even feed the wild birds."
Apologies, I did omit pets, which I intended to include.
I realise that my post omitting pets does make country people look like a bunch of unfeeling graspers, and clearly they are not - unless they are killing things for fun of course!!
I for one am happy to agree that people shoot for the fun of it, and it is not in any way attahced to any inadequacies, of any kind(!), but simply a pleasure which I personally to not understand, or agree with.
As I said, no common ground, but again, my respect for your honesty, which is a first for me on this subject on this site.
