Should UKIP take the money ?
Or would that be hypocritical?

// UKIP has secured £1.5m in EU funding by forming a pan-European political party, despite party members having voted against the idea three years ago, it had emerged.
The Eurosceptic party is to be awarded the money by Brussels through the formation of the Alliance for Direct Democracy in Europe (ADDE), of which its MEPs account for 21 of the 27 registered members.
The BBC’s Newsnight programme reported that the European Parliament could announce the approval of the funds – usually reserved for parties that promote European integration – later this week. //

OG,
I am no supporter of the dreadful Diane Abbot and her ilk. I have agreed before, that they are hypocrites.

Campaigning about EU largess and then grabbing every €uro you can from them is without doubt hypocritical. I am sure someone will attack Farage wirh it next time he is on Question Time.
Gromit can speak for himself OG but this is off-topic.

UKIP despises the EU. It shows it feelings in the childish way that Farage and his ilk when the European Anthem was played. It also climbs into bed with anybody, no matter how nasty, just to get its hands of the money. Its not often you see me post a DM link, but its all here. So when people go like sheep into the ballot box next May and put there cross against UKIP, these are the people that they giving their support to ::::

Spot on Mikey,no more to be said about Farage and his gang except to say, much as I dislike him to,Russell Brand and his "Poundshop Enoch Powell"was spot on.
Thanks for the support grumpy01 ! To see the comments by some on here, you would be forgiven for thinking that UKIP was the most popular party in Britain, instead of lagging behind in forth position in the Polls.

Its been a disastrous few days for UKIP and yet it seems that no matter how badly they behave, no matter how many scandals and embarrassments they are responsible for, some people will still refuse to accept there is anything wrong whatsoever. I am beginning to wonder how deep that Teflon coating is, and if there is anything that they can do that will finally lift the mist from people eyes, in order to see the truth.

Its seems that the old adage that you can fool some of the people some of the time but you can't fool all of the people all of the time, doesn't seem to apply to UKIP !
So they demonstrate their displeasure at the existence of the EU, and of having to work against it from inside. I don't see the issue there. One might moan at a lack of respect, but a lack of respect is exactly what UKIP holds for the EU. IMO it's expected but not relevant.
OG...UKIP are just being hypocritical. Pure and simple. They will take money and support from wherever they can find it...well known pornographers if necessary.

I am surprised that you are not opposing them. All your posts are normally very intelligent and well-thought out...surely you have not been taken in by their errant nonsense ?
The money is normally given to parties who use it to promote European integration. UKIP are short of cash. Presumably they are not going to use this money to do that. So they are actually using it to boost their own funds, which does seem mighty hypocritical, not to mention dishonest

On the other hand UKIP arguably needs the EU more than any other party: it's the reason they gained any sort of political momentum. So it is perhaps fitting :-)
ichkeria...spot on !

UKIP are hypocritical in all sorts of ways but their issue with the EU is head and shoulders above anything else. UKIP was formed with but one end in sight......to get Britain out of the EU. Up until very recently, Farage was telling anybody who listened that if Britain WERE to leave Europe, his job and that of UKIP would be complete and UKIP could disband.

All the 24 UKIP MEPs are doing very nicely, with their £6,537 salary, and almost untold riches from various expenses, most of which do not have to be explained. The worst thing that could possibly happen to those 24 MEPs is for them to lose their jobs ! Its a nice little earner, than you very much.

In order to continue to exist within the EU, they will, and have, jumped into bed with just about anyone, no matter how foul.

Hypocrites, one and all.
I the UKIP MEP's can claim riches which need not be explained,as did The Welsh windbag and his wife, then that might be a good reason for UKIP to promote leaving the corrupt and unaccounted EU!
lol, shot yourself in the foot there, mikey. ;D
What was that about principles and hypocrites?

At least Farage has the honesty to state his case from the outset and stick by it, unlike Lord Kinnock.
One tries not to oppose anything that helps return control of one's own national borders. After that is secure then we can discuss how our own country is to be run. I see no problem with putting up with any party for a term to achieve something of prime importance.
Odd that for the typically left-leaning BBC that this story is not running on their main news page and barely gets a mention halfway down the Politics page.
Why is that?
Probably because as I've already said, UKIP's stance is well known so this is not really a shock to anyone, least of all their opponents.
Another non-story.

Chill,

Kinnock was pro Europe. As was Chris Patten, Leon Brittan, Roy Jenkins. He never tried to hide the fact. Kinnock had minimal impact on Britains progess into the EU as he was in opposition. Heath, Thatcher and Major got us to where we are today.
Nice try Gromit, but ultimately a fail.
My jibe at Kinnock was at his stance over the House of Lords, a body he despised yet ultimately joined, but again you already knew that.
Luckily for Kinnock, humble pie is not fattening.
Here's another pro-European Tory, still advocating that Britain should and will join the Euro :::

I suspect they don't want to draw attention to the millions of pounds of EU funding they trough.
Hard to claim an unbiased view on Europe when you're accepting funds from them. That's why they tried to keep it hidden.
Yes Ukip should take the money- it's for a good cause and it may help show the likes of mickey what a mockery the EU is
