I Don't Want This Man To Die
I don't know if this has already been discussed here but I think a murderer and rapist sentenced to life imprisonment should not be allowed the right to die. He should have to live with himself for the rest of his natural life and not take the easy route to escaping justice.

AOG, it doesn't mean we can't discuss the matter. Organisations are fighting for a change in the UK law to make euthanasia legal so this same situation could occur here.
In the meantime, British citizens are choosing to go abroad to end their life.
We may be an island (islands to be correct) but that doesn't mean we should ignore what goes on in other countries.

sounds like a win-win situation. Insisting that he lives to the natural end of his lifespan these days may mean having costly operations or medicines to treat illness, for instance, and I can't think of any rational explanation why I should have to provide them.
If he wishes to inflict a more severe pnishment on himself than the state has (and I do think death is more severe than life in jail; think which you would prefer) then he should be allowed to.

Hc has indicated that this could concern us in the future....that alone makes it worth discussing now.
Where you're coming from must influence feeling on this.
Some will want to know their rapist/sexual attacker is dead.....there is a comfort in knowing he is no more....but there are some like me.......
When I was told mine had a nasty, painful and degrading illness I wanted it to go on for as long as possible...
When he died I had mixed feelings.....he was gone....but he wasn't suffering any more....and the cruel part of me liked to know he was suffering.

be a member of DIGNITAS, and
be of sound judgement, and

Because the co-operation of a Swiss medical doctor (physician) is absolutely vital in obtaining the required drug, further prerequisites mean that the person must have:
a disease which will lead to death (terminal illness), and/or
an unendurable incapacitating disability, and/or
unbearable and uncontrollable pain.
I believe it costs around £8000.

Why do you choose to describe it as "infamous" surely it is Famous Clinic which allows those who are unfortunate enough to have a terminal and painful illness, to depart this world peacefully.
If you say it is not easy to enter this Clinic in Zurich, why don't they all go to Belgium, after all it's much nearer?
