I agree with retro. If this goes pear-shaped(which it has the full potential to) I'm sure there'll be plenty of Clouseau jokes knocking about from the usual suspects, most of whom in such situations make me feel rather bilious with their armchair sniping.
Question Author
He's a Mod AOG, didn't you know?
I think retro was right. Very inappropriate 'joke' at this time.
"Lighten up a bit"
This thread is about an on going situation where innocent people are being slaughtered by rabid nutters. God and the CRS help the current hostages. You think this is funny?? I have a very good sense of humour but I know when to reign it in.
Definite abuse of Mod powers...imo of course.

Talbot, not the first time a mod has removed their own posts ,
// Definite abuse of Mod powers...imo of course. //

I removed one of my own posts after 2 seconds because there was a glaring error in it. How is that an abuse of power?

// A mod shouldn't be able to sanitise his own posts. //

He didin't sanitize it he deleted it, which they can do with anybody's, so why not their own. If they were able to edit posts after the event, I'd be concerned, but I guess they can't, otherwise he would have just changed 'Mexican' to 'Brazilian'.
Fuss about nothing on a serious subject.

Divebuddy...Mods have to give an explanation to the Ed for any removed answers/threads/users.

In all fairness I expected nothing less from Gromit, who has a disdain for Special Forces but particularly our very own SAS(as was highlighted recently), don't you Gromit?

my remark about the aeroplane was to show the stupidity and pointless hypothetical question of the subject. Does he mean put them on a plane to nowhere or a plane where they don't get off!! Any case that is another post and not for debate on this one.
Gromit

/// I removed one of my own posts after 2 seconds because there was a glaring error in it. How is that an abuse of power? ///

Because we are all not given the same privilege.
I suppose some want to stay anon because they don't want other users to feel they can't disagree with them.
It is very unusual for me to remove anyone's posts including my own. I remove spam.
In this instance, I reposted my post with the correct nationality. I then removed the one I had made a *** of. I made no attempt to conceal what I had done or try to mislead anyone. When asked what had happened, I happily told what the original said and why I removed it.
I got the amendment up before anyone had a chance to read the original, so I considered I was just tidying up by removing it.
