// what's to stop a Mod deleting any posts he feels like. Perhaps if a Mod takes part in a particular thread he shouldn't delete anything on that thread. //
If a mod were to remove a post just because they didn't like it, then they wouldn't be a mod for long. You have to give a reason for removing a post, which the Ed will view.
If I see something on a thread that warrants removal, then my job is to remove it, even if I am involved in that thread. It is extremely rare that I remove anything.

I now know what happened to my two posts the original one and the one asking why my legitimate thread had been removed.

// A few armchair warriors who never have been on the business end of a firearm!! but think it funny that others may have to face it as I did //
I am sorry this sort of thing goes with the job. even my late father when he joined the RAMC didnt say ( from his Oflag) "oh dear, I say !when I joined up, I didnt realise Germans would be firing at me ! those huns really are beyond the limit !" He kinda knew when he joined the army in Dec 1939.
or a firefighter - "whenever I see a fire I run the other way - can bear the things"
or a health worker - "oo I'd rather NOT go near that ebola patient - I might GET it ! uuuggggh !"
Sorry Chilldo it is just how life is at present

Charlie Hebdo is an anti-establishment satirical magazine. They laugh at everybody, politicians, terrorists, Presidents and probably the police. They were free to laugh at anything and so am I. A short video of a keystone cops moment during this tense situation amused me so I posted it. They were not being shot at at the time, and were not in danger, they just got defeated by a slippery hill and it was a bit of light relief.
AOG,
I wonder if you have read the Eds blog. If you haven't here it is

Morning all!
We've noticed that a few people are suffering from NYGS - that's "New Year's Grouch Syndrome".
This is a serious condition afflicting quite a few regulars on The AnswerBank.
It mostly manifests in making rude, snide or mean-spirited to new or not well-known visitors to the site.
While it's a very serious issue, we'd really prefer it if NYGS sufferers could suffer without involving the rest of us?
Here's a good example:

I mean, it's pretty harmless stuff, why be so grumpy about it?
As a sufferer of NYGS myself, I would like to warn you that my particular version of this manifests in suspending offer sufferers when they start being particularly grumpy.
All the best,
Ed.

Given your recent posts during the Sydney siege in which you(wrongly blamed the SAS for the death of a hostage that wasn't) pilloried the SF as they went about the business of trying to save lives and bring about a safe conclusion to the siege I'd have to say that is male bovine excrement.

Chill,
I made a mistake about there being friendly fire during the Iranian seige. When my error was pointed out I immediately corrected my statement. And then I apologised.
----
I do need to correct my statement. Stories of the death of the Iranian hostage by friendly fire appear to be untrue, put out by Iran propaganda. The inquest concluded rightly that the bullets were fired by the Iraqi terorists.
---------------
I apologise for introducing the idea that their was a friendly fire incident during the Iranian embassy seige. My intention was not to mislead ABers, it was a genuine misremembering of the incident. I should have fact checked before I posted, and now regret that I didn't, as it now looks foolish.
-----------
I did not pillory the Special Forces in Sydney. I hve praised the successful conclusion to the Paris operations. Can you please get a grip and stop accusing me of things I haven't done.
