Think that means: ostriches head sand into. Or words to that effect.
Some people, would, however prefer to gloss over the real picture.
I would like to hear if AP and jim360 would be happy to club together and sponsor the treatment of this poor unfortunate out of their own pockets seeing as their compassion and financial largesse of other peoples money shows no abounds.

They (the loony left) want to ban 'The Vagina Monologues' because it's offensive to ladeez without a vagina.
You think I made that up, don't you?

Jim, regardless of what you think, I'm pretty sure you'd be safer hobbling around Rome in high-heels and a mini-skirt than you would be in Mecca.

By "other people's money", retroclop, do you mean *your* money, perchance?
What if it turned out you were in a tiny minority and the more 'right-on' taxpayers were quite happy to stump up their 65millionth of the cost of this proposed operation?
Some people seem to personalise every 'unnecessary' pound spent by the state as if they'd get that pound back in their pay packet, if only they could get things, or people, they disapprove of to stop happening, or breathing.
p.s. I'm surprised no-one challenged my point about those who can afford BUPA but still use the NHS. It's unproveable and NHS staff aren't trained to challenge patients over their status (as yet).
On the other hand, wasn't there a thread here about a new setup, whereby NHS will be charging non E111 nationals? Something along the lines of the invoicing system being in place but they are haphazard about issuing them, that is they often do not push for payment, out of compassion for patients in unfortunate circumstances?

And what about those people like me who can afford private healthcare, pay for private healthcare ..and still have to pay NHS contributions every month? If higher rate Tax payers could opt out of the NHS it would stop functioning very very quickly.

People always seek to personalise arguments like this.... there is much of "taxpayers'" money that goes to causes I don't particularly like, because someone out there feels happy to spend it on whatever the heck they like, with only the smallest amount of consultation they can get away with. On the other hand, this is how our country works. We choose the people who decide how to spend our money, and by default they won't always spend it on what we want (although, hopefully, mostly they will). But it's those people who make the decision, not me, so all of this "would YOU pay for this?" Well, no, I wouldn't myself, but that is mainly because I personally don't have the money either. And then if I did I might be more inclined to give it to charitable causes I'm more familiar with. But so what? I was never being asked to pay for this myself, at least not in its entirety, the money instead coming out of the UK tax bill. This individual case represents the tiniest drain on our finances (individually working out at some tiny fraction of a penny per taxpayer); and anyway it's already only hypothetical, since she hasn't yet come here and hasn't yet got herself on the waiting list for the operation.
The idea that I, or anyone else, can only talk about sorting out any particular problem if we can pay for the solution in full ourselves is ludicrous. Or, if you disagree, I'll remember to use it myself in future.

/// I think lefties are caring to those they see as being in the same boat as themselves and those visibly worse off than themselves. ///
Well that rules all Labour politicians out then>
/// There is no need to care for those richer than themselves as they can clearly look after themselves *without resorting to state-funded services*. ///
/// The argument used against the health tourist, that they are here to get what they cannot afford at home, can just as easily be used against those on the right who are wealthy enough to use BUPA but use the NHS instead. ///
Are you forgetting the NHS isn't a free service, well not to those who are or have paid into the scheme all their working lives.
What they have however paid into is the National Health Service not the World's Health Service.

Jim I seriously think it you that doesn't 'get it'. You are choosing to describe anyone who does not agree that a person born male will remain male, despite physical and chemical mutilation, as disrespectful. This just is not true. They may feel they are female but they are not and although I full respect their right to be who or what they want to be, I do not have to pander to their whims by calling him 'she'.
retrocop -I apologized for my ' PREDICTIVE TEXT' changing your name from retrocop to retrodope not the SPELLCHECKER. Try googling 'retrodope' and see what you get - 12.500 results -it was a mistake -I apologized -you accepted then make crass remarks about 'how you are not as dumb as other AB's think you are because your spell checker will not turn retrocop into retrodope. You have proved to me what you are last night by making disgusting remarks about 2 well respected female members of this forum. As for your conduct on here -there are quite a few adjectives coming to mind but you are not worth getting suspended for. As for my apology -stick it where the sun don't shine.
