I am fairly certain that this was the case that we discussing here on AB recently. Apparently the jury took less than 30 mins to acquit him.

Sqad....I recall that you said that you would follow this case with interest.

sorry on a point of accuracy the applications to dismiss were under the FGM Act 2003 which allows a lawful defence that a doctor was treating someone post delivery.

Judge in his wisdom turned down all three applications

but the jury indulged in something the americans call Jury Nullification
( juries acquit on evidence if they think the law is unfair )
Which brings me back to my point that he should never have been charged in the first place.

I think he was suggesting the cause of FGM was a bandwagon for certain people rather than a heartfelt cause.
