Does UKIP specifically appeal to those with racial prejudices?

Is this something that Farage needs to worry about?

Cards on the table, when I think about it, I reckon I have a few social*, rather than racial prejudices myself, and I bet that the majority of AB News contributors are the same.

(*A social prejudice is one based on a number of factors, such as educational background, job, attitudes to crime and whether the person reads the Daily Mail etc. I believe that social prejudices are just as bad as racial prejudices - but I acknowledge them and consciously avoid acting on them).

I'm late to this party so it may have been covered

'Sixty per cent of Conservatives said they were not prejudiced'

So 40% are......isn't that bigger news knowing what we already know abou UKIP?

I certainly didn't know that about UKIP.

I had my suspicions, but this is the first time anyone has thought to document it. So it begs the question - why are half of UKIP voters racially prejudiced?

Your post doesn't actually explain the survey results.

But you did know that abot the Conservatives?
I have now looked at the YouGov poll results.

168 people who called themselves UKIP voters, 50% admiited to being racist.

So this whole discussion is based on 84 peoples' answers.

I don't you can say 50% of UKIP voters ( probably millions of people) are racist from just 84 people admitting they are.

Does it say how many people took part in this survey ????
Soz - I didn't see the above post. thanks Gromit
"12:22 Mon 23rd Feb 2015 - Another ridiculous statement where the "racial" word appears and sends those gullible enough to speak absolute nonsense"".

Anyway, I'm sure you can now see what I was on about earlier, SP. (wasn't necessarily referring to you though).

True, but I think that YouGov's sampling policy makes sense. The algorithms used are industry standard. There may be variations in results, but as we have seen in the past few elections, YouGov has been fairly consistent in their polling predictions.

Sp,

This is YouGov's prediction for the Scottish 'Yes' vote, compared to other pollsters.

http://blog.whatscotlandthinks.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/Table-Kellner-2.jpg

So the Yes vote was actually 44.7% and they predicted 41%. Several of the other pollsters were a lot closer.

So I don't agree that we should just take YouGov's word as gospel.

She could always offer herself as a jihadist bride if she has a problem with the British. The middle east recruitment drive in Facebook would dry up immediately. Suicide would be a better proposition!
Somebody, er, loved her.
Yes. A Vietnamese pot bellied pig I would guess.
I am one of many who have never been asked if I am a UKIP member/supporter. For the record I never have been so these statistics are not really valid like most.Nobody knows how many voters are out there but too scared to admit it. Ever heard of the old saying about statistics. They are like a lamp post that supports a drunk but not very illuminating!!
//Why are half of UKIP voters racially prejudiced?//

Because they're fed up with uncontrolled immigration?
I think your answer sums it up Naomi, & I agree.

But they are specifically racially prejudiced against other races, which excludes prejudices against white immigrants (eg. from Eastern Europe).

That doesn't make sense to me.
Why do we never call Muslims who hate Jews racist Muslims?

Are you saying that racism only extends to people of a different hue and not e.g.Poles who come to this country to work. I have heard many an English artisan, who knocks off at 2.30pm-3pm, bemoan that "those Poles are stealing our jobs" yet those Poles are still out doing the job and not spending half the working day in the Pub.
I don't really care to ask what party these Artisans vote for but I doubt it is Labour as regards to their work ethic but you can't assume they support UKIP either.
