Good morning
Now the dust has settled on our last fall-out, and we have had time to calm down and reflect, I would like to extend the hand of friendship once again, and offer my apologies for any offence caused during our last few heated exchanges.
Life is too short to bear grudges, and we are too old and experienced to allow ourselves to behave in a less than mature and civilised fashion.
We have always climbed over our anger with each other, drawn a line, and moved on, and I hope we can do so once again.
Best,
A-H.

AOG and I differ in most of our views, but we are entirely similar in the passion and commitment with which we express and defend them.
This can - and has - lead to us getting a little carried away, although I know that neither of us bears any serious malice towards the other, and I am confident that my old sparring partner will be re-joining me in the debates when he logs on today.

Sqad - "They both assessed the facts and made their statements..."
Yes, but it didn't end there.
As can happen when people get carried away with the heat of battle, some unfortunate remarks can be exchanged, and they are not helpful or appropriate, and so a small redress is required.
I am perfectly happy to apologise to anyone if I have given offence, knowingly or not - it doesn't take ten years off my life to simply say sorry - it smoothes the wheels of communication, and makes people feel better - what can be wrong with that?

Andy...I am with you here. These political discussions can get very heated, which nobody should be that surprised about surely !
But an attempt to bury the hatchet is always welcome. TTT and I have (mostly) opposing views on political issues but we have yet to resort to nastiness. If we can do it, then everybody should else should be able to make an effort as well.

\\\\\Sqad, if the Countries at War could settle their differences that way the world would be a better place to live in.\\\\
If..IF IF....but they can't and you would rather see them apologise and then do the very same thing again.
Andy-Hughes and AOG are two very different characters and if you think that an apology will "unite" them in some way then you are mistaken.
it is refreshing to have differences of personality and human characteristics,.......wouldn't life be boring if we were all the same in emotion and response.
We have had this "apology " before between andy and AOG and it hasn't made the slightest difference...........thank goodness.
Two interesting and positive characters with differing approaches to debate.........long may it last.

Good morning Andy
I thank you for your hand in friendship, and accept your apologies as I hope you will accept mine.
Although it is true that we have completely different views on many subjects, but as TWR has kindly pointed out it is the snide and sarcastic replies that annoys, which always set the pack off and then things are said which later we come to regret.
I disagree that Sqad's remark, that apologising is a an easy way out and a sign of weakness, it is not, for it takes guts to be the first one to apologise, and it moves things on to a more amiable position, if no one apologised where would we be?
I look forward to joining you once again in debate and yes at times argument even, but if it does get heated I think that we have both learned enough now so as to make sure that we both respects each other one's feelings.
Kind regards
AOG
