Having lost her beloved yacht Britannia, naming a cruise liner (for use by "Commoners") with the same name must have been a jarring experience for Betty.

The executives at P & O entered into discussions with the government and the royal household about using the name.
If her majesty had objected - they would have chosen another name

Looks like Canary would prefer another head of state...President Tony Blair perhaps,Canary?
Urgh, could you imagine that creep and his grasping wife lording it over us.
If Canary gets his way.. the answer is probably yes. With Canary and his family ih the gravy train somewhere ,leeching off the backs of the working class..as per usual.
That's what gets me when anti-monarchists rear their ugly heads. Who would they put in the Queens's place? Some jumped up multi-millionaire who would do his best to make himself richer and richer.

Very disrespectful, Canary.

Long Live The Queen.
No I am sure she will haunt the upper deck and crack one-liners like

Oh look Phi;ip why dont we make all those proles do the washing-up ?
Are there no shipyards in the UK where it could have been built?
or.....
Roll up ! roll up !
OK you lucky over-moneyed commoners, my tiara is up for rent 6-9 pm tonight, for any decent offer, as I will be wearing my crown !
We don't have shipyards big enough anymore, sandy. All P & O ships are built at the Fincantieri Yards in Italy. In fact most of the world's cruise ships are built, there.

My word, how the vile hate came seeping out from the usual suspects at what was a light-hearted post.

No wonder you all support the Nasty Party.
she can still go on the Britannia, but not very far; it's moored in Edinburgh and is apparently a huge tourist attraction.

I'd miss Her Maj but her son isn't going to be half as popular; should give a boost to republican sentiment when he comes to the throne.
my post was removed, presumably we are not allowed to defend our Queen or our country from one of canary's standard anti British posts.
