Having lost her beloved yacht Britannia, naming a cruise liner (for use by "Commoners") with the same name must have been a jarring experience for Betty.

Seemed a perfectly reasonable question to me. That's why I'm not a mod, I guess. (certainly better than that 21:50 post)
Ha, yes, I agree with you Canary, the only time we've seen any semblance of emotion {with tear filled eyes} from Lillibet was at the loss of her "boat".

The ship is simply Britannia, whilst the Queen's tub was "HMS Britannia," that's a big difference. Anyway, what happened to the idea to replace the Britannia with a new royal yacht, the idea that was mooted in the run-in to her diamond jubilee - and, apparently, with the Canadians prepared to pick up a good chunk of the tab, Australia just behind with the dosh offering too?
The Britannia in Leith is NOT, and never was, HMS Britannia. When we visited it last year they made a point that it was NEVER HMS.
Technically it was HMY Britannia.
No it wasn't. It was Britannia.
Wrong - all around

The ship name: Her Majesty's Yacht Britannia. Owner and Operator, The Royal Britannia Trust. Google wilkipedia for example.
the word is that the minute Charles takes the throne, Australia will become a republic.
