This guy was perhaps psychotic and his perceptions of reality were distorted (a scary experience) but we will never know for certain what made him do it.

In my opion, no.
This is an action that could have been decided on sixty seconds before it was carried out, by an obviously irrational mind.
The 911 atrocities took months of planning and calculation, and were carried out by people who believed what they were doing was right and just.
In terms of consequences, no suicidal person is in a state of mind that thinks outside themselves in any shape or form, so the consequences to innocent people, and the their families, was not likely to have been a consideration.
But as advised, he do not know, and never will know what went through this man’s mind on that day, so speculation by non-experts like us is largely redundant.
