Waitrose Causes Problems For New Home Buyers.
http:// www.bbc .co.uk/ news/bu siness- 3216601 9
This was always touted as some kind of urban myth but it seems that it is true. Waitrose aids and abets the already too high house inflation problem. So first time buyers will find it even more difficult to but a home. And they will have to pay more for their weekly shop !
Look for a home near an Lidl would seem to be the answer.

TTT...once in a while, the normal kind of Waitrose shopper would never be seen dead in Lidl, but not now. I have just come back from the Penzance one and there were quite a few cut-glass accents to be heard, buying the Reindeer and Kangaroo steaks !
But I do like Waitrose Sparkling Zesty Lemon marmalade, and I stock up whenever I am near a store. But please don't tell Naomi, as she will accuse me of being a Champagne Socialist !

This is of a bit chicken and egg story.
Supermarkets are not located by accident. Before a plot is chosen and a supermarket built, the democraphics of the local community are studied. Is the local community big enough to sustain a supermarket, how affluent are they? What is the mix of affluent and poor?
So it is not really coincidence that John Lewis stores are located in postcode areas that have more affluent people in them, and therefore higher house prices locally.

We still own a property in Sandwich (East Kent) lost our Tenant there about 6 months ago, it's sitting empty atm. Normally we would have sold and bought another Rental nearer home, 20 miles away, but there is a Planning Application in for a Waitrose about 400 yards away from the house, so we will just hang on for a while.
How did you get from Penzance to Swansea (which must be all of 250 miles) in a little over two hours, Mikey? Have I missed something?
Does the ferry still run from Ilfracombe to Swansea (or was it Cardiff)? I know there was a plan to start a catamaran service across the Bristol Channel. Didi it ever get going?

Hardy aiding & abetting. Folk will aways offer more for something they value more. First time buyers these days seem to believe they have a right to immediately afford a luxury home of their dreams, and seem unable to comprehend we all start with what we can save up enough to almost afford, and improve it as we age.
