I don`t think I have ever seen an interview with Katie Hopkins. I don`t even know the sound of her voice. I have seen the odd headline on the North Devon newspaper online that I look at because she comes from Bideford (I think) but I have never clicked on it. She just doesn`t exist in my world. It`s not that difficult to ignore her.
Sqad, I agree that many people with dementia can be looked after at home, however many cant, people with dementia also need somewhere to go while being stabilised and or being treated for other things that they suffer from like many older people, just because these people are in hospital with dementia, doesn't necessarily mean they are in hospital because of their dementia. Generally speaking if someone is in hospital because or their dementia it is because they NEED to be there!
RATTER...yes, I see you point, but the reality is that once a patient with dementia is admitted to hospital then it takes the "devil of a job" to get them out and that bed is "blocked."
In many cases, the next of kin do not want them home.
My remark about "from cradle to the grave" in my first post on this thread, was inserted to point out that the statement was now a "pipe dread", as this cannot be funded any longer.
I do really sympathise with the cares of dementia patients, but hospitals, for various reasons, are not the place for them and that is what Miss Hopkins was pointing out.

Sqad, I agree, hospitals are not the best place for people with dementia as they currently stand, however if they had beds in a separate unit where the doctors and Nurses gave a dammed and are actually trained to deal with dementia then they would be ideal. People with dementia in a general ward are often a very big problem for hospital staff. Maybe Katie Hopkins would have been better off stating these facts rather than just being typically vile!!
