he didn't have a seat!

Oh ***. Farage is now free to present Top Gear.

Ah well, I hope he continues with conviction and aplomb.
UKIP are bleating that the FPTP system is keeping them out of power.

Well, it doesn't seem to have stopped the SNP has it ? After all, the SNP came 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in many Election up until now, but they still managed to win 56 seats, out of a possible 59.

It isn't the voting system that keeps UKIP out of Westminster...its just that there are not enough gullible people in Britain to vote for them.

There has been a awful of thunder and lighting from UKIP, and about UKIP this last years or two, especially on AB, but what have they actually achieved.....one solitary seat in Parliament, just like the Greens !
The best news for me is the defeat of "flat-lining" Ed Balls although I suppose he will just work for his wife now and earn a fortune that way. As for Farage, I think he should stay as leader, he has done a good job

Tora yes I'm aware he had no seat and corrected my statement very quickly after posting.

Mikey -the only ones bleating today are Labour as they go like Lambs to the slaughter
"So there is some good news news this morning, after all !"

and that just about sums you up...thats your main concern
"As for Farage, I think he should stay as leader, he has done a good job"

A good job ? Really ? UKIP did have 2 seats, now they only have one, and he failed to get himself elected, by a wide margin. If this is doing a "good job" I would hate to see him do a bad job ! He has failed utterly.
i think he probably will resign, and it will be a shame. I don't particularly like his brand of politics, but he does appear to be more connected and down to earth than most of them (or perhaps that's what he wants me to think. The problem is his Party is a one trick pony with not much depth, although he is charismatic as a leader of it
You'd should know all about failure today, mikey. But, as with everything else you pontificate on, you couldn't be more wrong.

Mikey UKIP got 25% of the National Vote -are you saying 25% of the UK are 'nutters'? Its not how many seats they got its how many people voted for them and therefore believe in their Policies. Labour have stuffed themselves, and got less votes than UKIP in quite a few constituencies.
Question Author
He is resigning, but putting himself forward in September for Re-election. Wise choice.
Retrochic...according to the BBC, UKIP only got 12.6% of the popular vote.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/election/2015/results

Where is your 25% coming from ?
Question Author
Info from last time it was reported on BBC TV around 9am. Interesting your link shows the 'hugely popular' SNP got only 4.8% of the vote share -less than half that UKIP achieved.
So I was correct then Retrochic....UKIP only got 12.6%, not 25% ?
Question Author
yes mikey you were right -(makes a change) lol! :-)
Here's a good German word for mikey...Schadenfreude
He may have lost in his constituency, but during the election campaign he certainly made the other parties stand up and take notice on issues such as the EU and immigration, it most likely would not have been discussed without him.

At least we are now promised a referendum on the EU and a more tougher approach on immigration, under Labour we would have got neither of these important issues.
