"Three things happen when they are in the lab: you fall in love with them, they fall in love with you, and when you criticise them they cry." and when you criticise them they cry.... And when Tim Hunt is critised he sulks and resigns... lol the irony.

You can do it now! Anyone can! All you need to do is grasp firmly the twin concepts of stereotyping an entire gender based on clothing and appearance, and a willingness to denigrate said gender simply because their default position is one of inferiority.

He is not resigning his Nobel or even his knighthood
at age 72 he is resigning being head of a lab - and as Jim says who is probably the only post-grad Aber who is doing research - a good job too.
and for the gurlz - at risk of earning another zillion comments of 'what's he on about, is she a scientist - or wha' ? ' - I recommend looking at the life of Jocelyn Bell Burnell

I think it's the way you phrased it, andy.
and a willingness to denigrate said gender simply because their default position *on women* is one of inferiority.
That would have made it clearer. //
Not really!
'gender' and 'inferiority' are both in the second half of the sentence, therefore they are linked which is how I intended it - and how most people appear to have understood it.
Thanks.

No - their default position on women is one of SUPERIORITY - which is why I didn't word it like that.
If you don't feel it is a default position, we can agree to disagree, but my grammar and sentence construction is sound.
