In an almost perfectly competitive market, which is what economists believe is the ideal, what do you think Tesco as an individual company has done wrong?
Just to clarify, I mean things that they are personally as a company, and exclusively to blame for. Not just supermarkets or big business in general. I'm talking about causation as required in a court of law in England and Wales. In that sense, what are they to be blamed for?
And you know that the actual answer to your question lies somewhere between the two polar extremes you offer. That's perfectly obvious.
25% of groceries bought in the UK are from Tesco. This means that you probably filled your car with petrol from Tesco, your eating food from Tesco, the clothes your wearing are from Tesco, your using an iron from Tescos, using a kettle or watching a tv from tescos. The list is endless. My point is that its becoming a mono economy. There seems to be a death of the high street.
In the example you gave they are no different from any other store.
They reduce prices on key products to lure you into the store. You fundamentally go in with the sole intention of just buying the advertised extemely low priced product and come out with 90 quids worth of groceries etc.I know because I've done it myself.
Its called a marketing ploy and 99% of us fall for it.
BOGOF is another... Boots got me on that for years.
When you say "you", if you mean me personally, you are way off. If youmean "one", then please say so.
Again, I follow your logic, but I don't see how that means that Tesco is solely to blame for all the ills of the world. Certainly the energy crisis is a little tricky to pin on them. I look forward to hearing how it's done though.
Why would you think I was referring to you jan bug.Its a term of phrase as you well know and I was not educated to say one as in the third party. Why must you be so pedantic because a lot of what you say is relevant but then you go and spoil it all by saying something stupid...cant remember the rest of the words :-)
I'm off abroad next week as well so we will both get a break from irritating each other - well not until Thurs.
I do hope one enjoys oneself:-)
