How cool is this guy ...

Every year, he takes part in the Pride Parade ... on his mobility scooter !!
He carries a banner saying " I'm the oldest gay in the village".
In the past, he has been given a criminal conviction for being gay. This weekend, he married his BF, to coincide with Pride Weekend.
That's the way to go when you're in your 90s!

AOG - //Interesting to find they were called Neo-Nazis ( i wonder what name they would have chose to describe them if there had not been a Nazi Party all those years ago?)//
I wonder what kind of flag we would have had if we didn't have a Union flag?
I wonder what sort of dog we would have had if we didn't have a bulldog to represent 'Britishness'?
I wonder what I would have been like if I had been born a girl?
And so on and so on ....
We did have a Nazi party, and that is why people with like-minded attitudes get linked to them.

I am wondering how some here would react if a "Paedophile and Proud" march was organised annually in their local town. Obviously not an eyebrow raised here by the look of it! //
Why have you included my name?
Because your name was in the post to which I was replying - I cut and pasted it - so it's there.

///No one has answered, including you, if they would be happy to embrace a Paedophile Pride March or to make it similar a P.I.E march or do some not now wish to admit their abhorrence here?
Must go now. ///
That notion is so beneath contempt that is not worthy of commenting upon.
But for clarity's sake, I would abhor a PIE march.

/// A fundamental aspect of being to live as a gay man in our society AOG, is a rounded, robust and highly developed sense of humour. You being resolutely heterosexual may be a little lacking in this area? ///
You seem to have a great deal of knowledge regarding living as a gay man andy?
And here's me, a mere heterosexual who doesn't possess such a rounded, robust and highly developed sense of humour, as apparently you do.

I was merely answering your question.
// you will have to accept that not all are impressed with the need to hold Gay Pride marches either. //
//I don't think you have to be 'impressed' - just accepting and tolerant will do.//
// I am not querying an old man's rights at all. You are putting words in my mouth just as you have said I am making sarcastic jests about paedophilia. Where have I done that? //
The old man's rights are not the issue here - you have raised a far darker element to the debate with your inclusion about paedophilia.
I offered that you were being sarcastic about paedophilia because to ask that as a serious question defies belief.
However, you are determined to underline that fact that you mean that supporting gay rights is OK, and supporting paedophilia is not is something you think you will receive a serious answer to. You just can't help some people!

Sorry about that, it's in the file, along with - do I think sexual abuse of children is OK? It's a question I will get to eventually .......
Or maybe not!!!!!!!!

I have exactly the same amount of knowledge as any other heterosexual man who lives in this world, interacts with the people around him, listens, reads newspapers, and is generally open to aspects of the world that he may not experience directly, but is nonetheless interested.

In defence of andy_hughes...we all know andy's politics and social attitudes, and therefore, he absolutely 'gets a pass' to post jokes like that.
I know it might sound odd, but when you know that someone is writing or saying something with no ill intent, they will always 'get a pass'.
If some others on AB posted exactly the same thing, I would read it as being snide and patronising.
I know it sounds unfair.. //
Thanks for your support - appreciated as always.
I think AOG knows me perfectly well, and knows when I am being ironic, but still feels the need to make a point - as he has been doing most of the afternoon - as per our most recent exchange just above.

Ah, so what you are really saying is "there is a rule for one and a different one for others" especially if they are singing from the same hymn sheet as yourself.
Not a Moderator are you?

Yes, exactly. There are people who you know have no ill-intent, and there are those whom you know do.
It's to do with prior knowledge, or a relationship that has been established.
If you were out with your friends and it was time to leave the restaurant, you could easily say, "Hurry up you old farts" and everyone would take it as a joke, because there is obviously no ill intent.
If, however, the waiter took your payment and then said exactly the same thing, it could be taken as offensive.

And as I've said to you before on a couple of occasions...a grown man who is sexually attracted to a prepubescent boy is a paedophile.
A grown man who is attracted to a prepubescent girl is also a paedophile.
In this instance, it is the age of the person they are attracted to which is the defining characteristic of their sexuality...not the gender.
I hope that explains it (again).
