Every year, he takes part in the Pride Parade ... on his mobility scooter !!
He carries a banner saying " I'm the oldest gay in the village".
In the past, he has been given a criminal conviction for being gay. This weekend, he married his BF, to coincide with Pride Weekend.
That's the way to go when you're in your 90s!

Best to edit out all none relevant wording, before posting Andy, it helps to prevent confusion, such as in this case where you seem to have been addressing both myself and retrocop.//
No, I didn't seem to be addressing both yourself and retrocop.
YOU saw it like that because you are enjoying an afternoon of wilfully picking holes in any and every post you can that I make - so I'll carry on because the majority are not looking for an argument, or to be offended - just you ... again.

AOG - //Ah, so what you are really saying is "there is a rule for one and a different one for others" especially if they are singing from the same hymn sheet as yourself. //
There's the dreaded 'so ...' prequel again, and true to form, it is followed by you putting words in SP1814's mouth, which he did not say.
That is your interpretation of what he meant - and, as with the comment I made that he was defending, you are jumping to the wrong conclusion - again.

I think that what he meant was that gay people don't have to live in fear of losing their jobs/livelihoods in the even that they are 'found out'.
That gay people can now have a life of financial security, enjoyed by their straight counterparts (inheritance rights for instance).
That gay couples now are on equal footing with straight couples when it comes to personal tax affairs.
And whilst we're talking about equality - it appears that straight couples are enjoying the outdoor sex so often attributed to gay men.
It's called dogging.
Straight couples are doing it all over...and not just in wooded areas (at least according to the CH4 documentary on the subject last year).

May I intercede here? Would anyone who equates homosexuality with paedophilia (and it’s a common misconception particularly I’ve found, among the older generation) please just think rationally for a moment. In the main, homosexual adults are attracted to adults of the same gender, just as in the main adult heterosexuals are attracted to other adult heterosexuals, so please let’s stop right now with the paedophilia implications. It's insulting. Paedophiles of whatever gender or sexual orientation, are paedophiles – and that’s a different subject entirely.

/// I have exactly the same amount of knowledge as any other heterosexual man who lives in this world, interacts with the people around him, listens, reads newspapers, and is generally open to aspects of the world that he may not experience directly, but is nonetheless interested. ///
And from that you can gain that a fundamental aspect of being able to live as a gay man in our society is a rounded, robust and highly developed sense of humour.
Amazing, absolutely amazing.
