How cool is this guy ...
http:// www.bbc .co.uk/ news/uk -englan d-susse x-33741 380
Every year, he takes part in the Pride Parade ... on his mobility scooter !!
He carries a banner saying " I'm the oldest gay in the village".
In the past, he has been given a criminal conviction for being gay. This weekend, he married his BF, to coincide with Pride Weekend.
That's the way to go when you're in your 90s!

I think retro might be teasing a teeny bit. //
The post of Gay Pride Marches has become rather hackneyed on this site.
For my 65years I have at least got very good memory recall as Mikey will confirm much to his chagrin. :-)
These marches featured on AB last year and a little more recently we had a large debate about gay pedestrian crossings if you recall.
The result of these debates,as predicted, end up with the pro gay marches against the anti and the cat fight begins.
So I sat back for a long time on this current hackneyed debate and watched how it would progress.
Sure enough,as expected, aog and Svejk queried the need to "broadcast " gay pride. I would of joined them but I waited for it to warm up a little.
A-H didn't let me down. The time worn word "tolerance" was used in his inevitable lecture with regard to this type of theme.
I was a little disappointed and surprised that many others here didn't keep throwing in the same word!!
I decided the time was right for me to throw in a wicked pebble and watch the ripples flow out and boy did it work?
"How would you like a paedophile march in your town every year?"
"I am amazed you even asked that question".
"Being gay is not a crime .The act of paedophilia is!" etc etc.
Horror that I should ask the question wasn't there?
I actually provided a subtle suggestion. Being a paedophile is not a crime after all and nobody's business what they do in their own home ??
No one actually had the cajones to say outright,"No.Although being a paedophile is not a crime in itself I would not approve of a march to promote it or the P.I.E organisation that exists"
Why did none of you answer the question?
Because homosexuality is now legal you will question the right of those ,of the older generation, who will accept it is legal but do not wish to come to terms with it.
You will lecture on their intolerance but you do not want your halos to be seen slipping if you proclaim your disgust at a paedophile organisation and will not endorse the question of them holding a march.
In my opinion hypocrisy, which has been displayed today,is no better than intolerance but thanks. Most of you confirmed where your true colours lie. Mustn't keep you all, I'll let you get back to your halo polishing and let you ponder "those in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
Sorry jj. I kind of hi-jacked your post for my own amusement but then you had the nous to realise that didn't you? xx

The usual mob? You mean those who will lecture others who do not agree with their support and claim they are intolerant but at the same time are intolerant of others views.
We are supposed to tolerate gay marches,(in view of those who support it) but those who preach and accuse others of intolerance do not wish to admit their own intolerance to paedophilia. They are the moral cowards and display hypocrisy.

I'm intolerant of paedophilia. I have no problem admitting that. I just don't understand the comparison.... Consenting adults...child abuse. Couldn't be much further apart.

jack - as retrocop has advised - at some tedious length - his introduction of the concept of paedophilia onto this thread was simply an exercise in Pavolvian responses, for his own rather weird amusement.
My own view on people who tease strangers about something as distressing as child abuse, of which some participants may have direct experience, is better left unsaid, but I will be very wary of responding to his posts in the future.
I always print what I think, feel and know, and identify each as appropriate – I don’t do wind-ups or mischief-making, and I think it is wrong to pick such an evocative subject with which to laugh at the sincerity of others.
A lesson learned - retrocop likes to play with people - be aware.

Your comparison is odious, and your insult is galling.
Call me old-fashioned but I do see a difference between adults in consenting loving relationships and adults physically and mentally damaging children.
I am tolerant of one, and utterly intolerant of another – and I defy any sane adult to hold another viewpoint – unless of course, you are simply carrying on your perverse mind games in which case, shame on you.

Yep...very refreshing - a frank exchange of views and very good natured, despite those who have tried to derail it.
We should all give ourselves a pat on the back.
Seriously - throughout all of this, no-one has called anyone a homophobe and no-one else has accused anyone of being part of 'the gay mafia'.
This is growth!

They are not 'tongue in cheek', Peter.
He is a card carrying bigot who vainly imagines he can hide his bigotry behind a spurious defence of "it's all just to wind up the usual suspects".
Well I'm not one of the usual suspects - I stay well out of 'News' as I find it repetitious and narrow minded (on both sides often). But I've read all of this thread and retrocop's attempts to link paedophilia and homosexuality are repulsive - however clever he thinks he is being.
