I must confess I have never actually heard the lady speak on television, but I find her overly flamboyant appearance somewhat attention-seeking, and at odds with her professional role.

well 800k dissapeared pretty quickly after the idiot governement gave them the dosh. Yes, there is somthing distinctly dodgy about her.

Stopped £700,000 tax from the staff one year. But forgot to pay it to the government. Luckily a nudge and a wink to the right people got it waived.

Shame for her, really. If Labour won the 2010 election, she'd have been a shoe-in for a Baroness-ship.

TTT...the money didn't "disappear" ....it went to pay the salaries of the staff, so that the Charity could continue to operate. Organisations of this size can't survive on volunteers...they need properly trained and experienced staff.

I don't think that there is any doubt that Kids Company has done a marvelous job over the years. Successive Governments, of all colours, have supported their good work, as well as many private companies and private individuals.

But it appears that the accounting side of the business wasn't up to scratch, and confidence seeped away. Whatever we think of Batmanghelidjh, I don't think there is any doubt that her heart is in the right place. Charities like this are very often the only agencies that help deeply troubled kids and their communities. It is clear at the moment what will happen to all those kids and their problems, now that Kids Company has had to fold.

It was quite heatbreaking watching the kids and supporters on the news last night. The charity seems to have helped an overhelming amount of people.

It's all very sad.

I agree Rocky, and isn't it even sadder that there are people on here that think the collapse of this Charity is a suitable occasion for making stupid and childish remarks !
