The point I was making is that it isn’t. Rules against discrimination have to work for all.
Naomi...we may be at odds here by mistake.
My original comments at 17:02 was not to suggest that discrimination wasn't as "bad" if it emanates from non-white employers, against white candidates ...perhaps I should have said "as widespread" I have grave doubts that if this type of discrimination does exist, it cannot be as widespread as the opposite type.
Of course discrimination is to be deplored whenever it occurs and from wherever it emanates.

Balders....but this change will ensure that the candidate gets an interview at least, instead of being discarded in the early stages for racist reasons. So it has to be a move in the right direction surely ?
After al,l dave is the one who is campaigning on this issue ...quote from the Telegraph link :::
"During the keynote address in Manchester he said: "Do you know that in our country today, even if they have exactly the same qualifications, people with white-sounding names are nearly twice as likely to get callbacks for jobs than people with ethnic-sounding names?
"One young black girl had to change her name to Elizabeth before she got any calls to interviews. That, in 21st-century Britain, is disgraceful."
I am in complete agreement with dave here !

Naomi and Talbot...I am sure we would all like some proof that there is discrimination by non-white employers against white candidates exists !
Lay it before us and we can make our minds up !
But, to repeat myself for the last time....if it does exist, then these new changes will work in the same way as it will against the opposite type of discrimination !

//"Over the three years before the last election, Labour increased ethnic minority civil service representation by 11%//
